This anti-missile turret is loosely based upon the Phalanx Close In Weapon System employed by the US Navy. IRL, the weapon is an M61 Vulcan 6 barreled gatling cannon capable of throwing 4500 20mm rounds per minute downrange at everything from missiles to small aircraft and even small boats.
It would also be appropriate to use for planetary defense as United States military installations are defended by them.
I am undertaking a build series in which I am creating what I believe the starships of the United States would look like, this fills the role of missile/drone defense quite well.
