Wormhole Pioneers Explorer Class:
Panther MK-I Stealth Scout
The Panther Mk-I is a stealth scout meant to disguise itself in empty space. Though not equipped with a cloaking system making it ineffective in a colored skybox, it's jet black hull and radar jamming capabilities make it ideal for scouting asteroid fields and orbital sectors without fear of being discovered by pirates.
The Panther is best utilized when outfitted with an AI unit as the cockpit is fragile and the pilot can be easily killed by a well placed missile, however the panther relies on radar jamming, non reflective black hull plating and swift piloting skills and an overclocked engine to put a swift end to enemies.
With no Visible systems or weapons system your opponent often times will have no idea what they're firing at if it's not the cockpit (which can even be hard to find from long distance). The systems considered most essential to survival(weapons, overdrive, jump drives) are covered with heavy armor and are considerably harder to damage, like other explorer class scouts the Panther MK-I's effectiveness and maneuverability is maximized by a skilled pilot and reduced when AI operated. Less general purpose than the Marauder MK-I light Scout the Panther mainly serves as a Scout/Escort, and while certainly capable of self defense, is not meant to engage in fights alone for extended lengths.
The Panther becomes hard to spot from 300m and from half a sector (1000m) is practically invisible. As well as being camouflaged for the space environment it includes a radarjamming effect, as well as ionic shields for when the scout falls under attack. It has a solid weapon system and is quite effective at taking out light and heavy fighters. and in groups can be used to take out corvettes or ambush convoys. Overall the Panther MK-I makes a great support fighter or scout.
