The Paladin is a prototype ship design from the Corps of Engineers intended to fulfill the role of a defensive support craft. With that said, you can expect to find one of these supporting a fleet from the rear lines with its two ION missile systems and two medium-strength artillery cannons enhanced by a punch-through support system.
For its defensive nature, the ship is equipped with a "Covariant Shield Array" rated to defend the vessel from 1 million gigawatts of damage from enemy weapons. Bolstering the shield system is a defensive Ion system which increases shield resiliency by 50%.
The vessel also comes equipped with an Overdrive system to increase its flight speed for faster deployment, a radar jammer to help keep it from being targeted by enemy pilots (AI vessels and turrets will see through it), space for up to ten small turrets, an AstroTechnician system to repair your allies and a Salvage Beam system for salvage operations after a battle.
Internal facilities include three decks. The upper deck holds four crew quarters (two bunks each, a food dispenser, a table, and separate dressers (plexstorage)), a medical ward and a combination shower/toilet space. The central deck holds the bridge, two weapons control rooms and two engine control rooms. The lower deck is dedicated to the brig (holds 6 prisoners). Each deck is accessible through a gravity-lift and each room is labeled with holo-displays.
Please take care with the turrets. We are still working out some bugs with their targeting systems which causes them to damage each other when they are actively engaging a hostile target.
