The Algol is the answer to the question "What if they have bigger guns than me?" If so, then I think it's unlikely they'll have more shields. Sporting almost a million in a compact, 4k mass package, the Algol will outlast almost any other ship of its class.
It also comes integrated with Schemadyne's At-a-Glance (TM) technology, displaying all of the ship's relevant data on various displays in the bridge.
Author's Note:
I won't lie - the resemblance to Tshara's Radiant Dawn isn't by accident. I was working on this with the Radiant Dawn in the background and couldn't help myself from "borrowing" a few techniques.
