    The attack.

    ~Warning! Multiple inbound contacts detected!~

As the pirates scramble to regroup Sector Patrol 116 jumps in the designated sector.

A is standard protocol the Saber fast response fighters always travel in groups of 3.

In perfect coordination all tree fighters open fire on the closets pirate fighter. It doesn’t last long.
With most of its cockpit nothing more that space dust its companion turns to flee.

    Featured ships

The Saber is another complete reimagination of an older design of mine. This light attack fighter is the answer to the Raven pirate fighter. Employed by the trade guild as a fast recon and response force in any of the sectors they control.

This ship can also function in a fleet as a dedicated guard against missile swarms. It’s nimble, fast and jump capable.

    Features include:
    • AMS systems.
    • AMC’s and HS missiles.
    • Jump capable.
    • Can travel with radar jamming.
    • Rudimentary scanning.
    • Speed overdrive.

Even a small ship like this can benefit from some improvements. Useful criticism can be very productive.
So here is a list of improvements I made.

    • Changed the HS missiles for tracking ones.
    • Spruced up the interior to be a lot more interesting.
    • You can now enter the cockpit! Glass door.
    • Replaced power tanks with shield regen. Was not needed.
    • Made some small cosmetic changes.

Are those little mini turrets? how well does it do against AI?
Yes they are. I usually set these to shoot at missiles only. Depending on your AI game configuration they are decent at that.
And they can souk up some damage if they miss a missile keeping the main ship alive.

Nice. Ill have to use those. I don't like making overly big ships, so things like those would be perfect.

Very cool ships, BTW. They have inspired some designs of my own.

Usually I post here when I have a new ship to release. However the current build I’m working on right now is something special and I wanted to show some in between progress and share some of my design decisions.

As some of you might know I have released a number of rebuild or reimagined ships of older designs I posted on the old starmade docks.

My current project is this as well. However this is a rework of the “Burning Amber” and that ship has always been close to my heart. This ship was always going to be my main go to ship when exploring the galaxy.

A lot has changed during the time this ship was build and the current version of the game. A simple refit was not worthy of what I wanted the “Burning Amber” to be.

So I scaled things up and started from scratch. I took all the ideas and unique features from the original build and came up with what you see below. It took me a while to get everything lined up the way I wanted but I think I’m getting there. The engine section is not even close to done yet and is still in the wire frame stage.

The below picture also shows a good comparison between the original and new build.

I made some more progress on the “Burning Amber”. The general hull design is now done. This means all main elements are in there place. There is still a lot of detailing and other tweaks left to do though.

I started work on the engines. One of my favorite parts of the original design. It’s turning out rather well.

The below screenshots will give you an idea of what this ship is about. Think of this ship more like the Enterprise than an actually war ship. Its armed yes but its role is about so much more.

Below the command bridge is a hanger bay (yellow) that will house 2 light ‘Saber’ escort fighters.
This will give you a change to explore places the Burning Amber is not designed to go.

On the top behind the command bridge you will see a ‘dome’ like structure. This is the conference room. Behind that is a shuttle bay. So a diplomat could arrive by shuttle. You have your diplomatic meeting and the diplomat can go back to the shuttle or can be escorted to a VIP room on the ship.

On the bottom between the cooling fins is a cargo area. This can be accessed by 2 cargo doors. This area will house a number of worker bees as well for moving cargo grates or repair jobs.

These are just a small number of examples of the versatility I want this ship to have. A true galaxy explorer. Ready for anything.

It’s been a while since my last update. Unfortunately I have no reliable internet atm. Piggybacking of my neighbors Wi-Fi right now.

But without active internet all the time it does give me more time to work on the new BurningAmber.

The general shape of the exterior is largely the same but I added a lot more details. And with the update of rails I’ve been redesigning my turret systems, access doors and other dockable content.

Most of the time I have been spending on doing interior work. I keep getting caught up in adding fun little moving projects to it. Might not be practical but it makes the ship more alive. An example is shown below. The hanger bay of the ship has 2 fighters stored. I added a repair bay and with some logic and rail magic made i6t possible to automatically move on of the fighters into the repair bay. A crane with a repair laser will move randomly over top it to make it seem like its repairing the ship.

I still have a ton of detailing to do however. A lot of the interior rooms are a bit bare atm. However I want them in place first so I can add all the main systems in the space left over.

To mix things up a bit from the work I’m doing on the BurningAmber I’ve been slowly updating my previous builds.
It’s mainly to convert them all to the rail system.

    QueenBee MK1g
    • Updated rail turrets.
    • Changed the Bee lead-out and made them rail dockable.
    • Universal docking port (checkout Rabenschild vids on that)
    • Minor cosmetic changes.

    WS_Bombini_MK1d
    • Made rail dockable.
    • Removed the tiny turrets and replaced them with fixed weapons.
    • You now exit the core inside the ship.
    • Added radar jammer.
    • Changed the jump drive proportions. One slow and one fast drive.

    Data entry 4322-A

The first encounter with the ‘Pasukon’ during the salvage mission of the Coalition orbital elevator O-698 was unexpected.

Wreckage of an unknown type was detected during the start of the salvage operation. Trying to access its systems triggered a subspace signal. Following this signal multiple contacts jumped into the system of the same type as the unknown wreckage. The following encounter can is described in dossier 4322-B
    ...
It is believed that the ‘Pasukon’ are an entire AI driven species. They are mainly found around sites of abandoned space stations or ship graveyards. There main ship is the aptly named ‘Fugu’. At first glance looking harmless but when agitated can escalate quickly.

    Featured ships

The Fugu is intended as an AI drone ship most commonly found patrolling ship graveyards.

The design was mainly an exercise in changing ship profiles with rails. It was a lot of fun getting it to work correctly. Unfortunately you can’t shoot from docked entities so I had to cheat with that.

Not a ship intended for heavy combat. Use it to visit a friend and then scare them by pulling out the guns :D

    Features include:
    • Changes between combat mode and compact mode with a button.
    • Interior structure to make it look interesting when shot to pieces.
    • Slow jump drive and radar jammer.

    Rescue

Increased pirate activity among most trade routes forced the trade guild to take action. To get to the heard of the problem a ship was needed that could take the fight to the pirates home base. The Wave breaker is one of these ships commissioned for the job.

Fortunately for our wild space explores this missile frigate was just a sector away. Once the distress signal was received it jumped in range… and unleashed hell…

    Featured ships

The Wave Breaker is a missile frigate first commissioned by the trade guild in the early days of expanding into wild space. Mainly tasked in smoking out pirate stations that are disrupting trading routes.

Its fast assortment of missiles gives a new meaning to the fraise ‘unleash hell’.
In addition its quad turbo blasters gives it the additional punch to bring shielded targets crashing down.

    Additional features include:

    • Repair drone
    • Interior with crew quarters.
    • Forward storage bays. Can be converted for other needs like lab space.
    • Fast jump drive with slow backup.
    • Universal docking

This ship was largely build on a multiplayer server. This reflects somewhat in the systems. A salvage system and a stop beam are included.
Exterior design loosely based on a concept image found on the internet. Source is unknown.

How did you manage to get the missiles to shoot up and over? I could never get them to do that.

    Ship looks amazing too.

    WS BurningAmber MK2

The BurningAmber MK2 is a complete rebuild of an old design. Scaled up in size it’s not only bigger but features an array of new systems and options. A sprawling interior gives plenty of room for crew and supporting ships.

Primary a galaxy exploration vessel. However it has teeth to defend itself if needed.

    Additional features include:

    • Room to expand for future technology. Like factories or teleportation systems.

    • Worker bees, recon fighters and a shuttle.

    • Docking facilities, Labs, medical facilities, Engineering sections and more.

    • Automated missile systems.

    • Twin turbo lasers.

    • Extensive jump capabilities.

    • Electronic warfare.

    • Inter ship rail line.

    • So much more…
The interior of the ship is complete but some areas are designed to house future systems. This means some areas might seem to be a bit lacking. This will be updates as newer technology becomes available.

Bravo, this is spectacular. I can't wait to download this and take it for a spin. I've been itching to get back into Starmade lately and this might just be the inspiration I was looking for. Love your ships! In my opinion, you're one of the top builders in starmade, keep it up.
