I hope that there will be some fauna on planets :P...But Villagers DO look awful. These whales do not; they easily fit in with things like the quadcrabs and other upcoming fauna.

Exactly....But Villagers DO look awful. These whales do not; they easily fit in with things like the quadcrabs and other upcoming fauna.
If it was ready for that we probably would have seen it swimming around in stream... Currently AFAIK it's just a textured model. Schema still has to program all of the stuff. The whale in the current starmade dev build?
Oh ok, thank you. I was trying to find the mesh file but didn't know if they did programing voodoo to make it not a mesh file.If it was ready for that we probably would have seen it swimming around in stream... To be fair, probably many if not most of them are children.I can't tell which is more interesting: The idea of space fauna or people loosing their rag and treating the devs like children.
I was thinking how right that statement sounded. It seems so true of the internet. Doesn't really fit the ones that are against the idea here though. They just don't see a big piece of blubber as sci-fi space game worthy. To be fair, probably many if not most of them are children.Them people of course, silly ; )
To be honest, I'm not yet won over by the whole space whales idea. However when they are added, I really hope they will be the huge, majestic, enigmatic, and secretive creatures their earth analogues are, not something that is dwarfed by any first day salvager. And definitely not StarMade's everyday creeper counterpart. That's what pirates are for ; )I was thinking how right that statement sounded. It seems so true of the internet. I do think the idea could go seriously wrong if not implemented properly. That is pretty much true of any idea when trying to make it a reality. I have seen some of the weirdest ideas make a game great. (always reminds me of minecraft. all that game is is a list of weird ideas made reality, and for some reason lots of people really like that game. I really like the minecraft. Really needs a hundred or so mods added in to make it really playable though.)
Really looking forward to spacewhales. The creepers of space.
I agree. Space whales should be an impressive and occasional encounter. I'd also them to not have the derp AI used for pirates and traders. Perhaps the fauna update will include some new AI behaviors? To be honest, I'm not yet won over by the whole space whales idea. nice ship you got there :DTime to dust off the ol' Harpoon Cannon
big, impressive, slow, strong and not as stupid as a sack o couch potatos.I agree. Space whales should be an impressive and occasional encounter. I'd also them to not have the derp AI used for pirates and traders. Perhaps the fauna update will include some new AI behaviors?
Remember that we have multiple people working with Schine on StarMade. Some of them are simply 3D artists. There's not much the 3D artists can do about the AI bugs. Rest assured that we are working on bugs as well! However, our art guys have been working on the space whale for a while, and this was a good time to release a peek at it.Not meaning to be rude.
With all the other things that could use work this isn't something I care about.
I attacked 2 pirate bases today and No AI attacked me. So I dropped out checked the difficulty and it was where it normally. On the first base 1 fighter spawned it never fired a shot it did follow me a little but nothing more. The second base 6 ships 2 moved 4 stood still. Only 1 shot at me one round of missiles.
I could go onto a long list of what I seen but I'll save it for a more appropriate section.
either way I appreciate the attempts to improve the game. I would suggest focusing on the current issues before trying to add more.
The space whales reminds me of Dr. who and several other shows with space whales.
