Is Starmade more RAM-intensive or CPU-intensive? I have an dual core i7 5500-U and 8 GB RAM. I've had some lag while working on really, really, (and I mean REALLY) big ships. I've thought about adding another 8GB, as I have another RAM slot, but I'm wondering how much of the lag is because of RAM and how much is because of my mediocre CPU.

I've noticed it benefits from both. I also notice a significant temperature spike on the CPU. I don't recall if SM multi threads. More ram is good, CPU or GPU is more likely a bottleneck at 8gb though.

I find limiting the frame rate helps with GPU temperature at least.

I have 16GB RAM and usually allocate 8 to the client and 4 to the dedicated server if I run both on the same machine (for single player, I just prefer to start the server separately); I think that's more than enough. I don't monitor RAM usage, but I haven't met either limit yet.

Also my entirely subjective feeling is there's less lag if I run a dedicated server on the same machine as opposed to have the launcher start it for me. Setting CPU affinity differently for both processes might help, too.
