experimenting with faction-themed custom emblem blocks

    wedges seem to bea bit impractical at the moment as far as i can tell. i haven't been able to get a rotating face'd block that is also a wedge to work out. no matter what i try out in the config, the results always come out with idiosyncrasies like:

    Something like this would be really handy for smaller ships such as fighters, drones, and so on.
    Wish we had some sort of "connected textures" to make things like these mix and get bigger.

    yeah, since these are custom blocks, i figured it is best to not rely on them for much. single pops folks might have in their ships that can be quickly subbed out when loaded onto another server. as with all custom content, usability is a concern!

    added in a font and border system to appear on standard grey armor.

    also testing out a few things that may or may not stay -
    • generic logos: nasa, ubuntu, interstel, lego, federation, rebellion, empire, klingon and others.
    • a special glowing faction emblem by request of a server member.
    • a large 4x4 server emblem

    Didn't expect a Lego Space logo before a UNSC logo....

    several reasons for that - the UNSC logo is
    a) personally not to my personal taste, by and large. i'm too old (in my 50s) to give a crap about anything halo.
    b) too detailed. i selected emblems that would reduce well to 64pixel texture sizes.



    this one looks like the best variant for good reduction, but it's not mounted on a planet like the others. is that recognizable, do you think, if the large-print UNSC was printed below the eagle?

    Thats not an official logo though.

    i'm afraid the single fontset already takes up 25% of the available custom textures. there's no way to extend it any further and save the room i want for other things. cool font, though, you should do that one up!

    most of the figures in the image above are high resolution enough to make a decent 256px texture using the selections as quick mask pastes, but if you have a good vector drawing, it might be worth it to redraw everything for the best reduction.

    i may at some point release nothing but a huge fontpack, and will save this if i get onto that as a project!

    animated decor, set 2: some more cinematic style animated displays (1 block to go here)


    hazard extention set (early draft, these have changed, just not screenshotted)


    adding three new complete 5-shap hull sets with full in-game crafting chains:
    - "pretty pink hull / hot pink standard armor / wine advanced armor"
    - "lime hull / teal standard armor / navy advanced armor"
    - "cream hull / gold standard armor / rust advanced armor"

    lol they really need to make it so there are more IDs to use somehow. Like say using a SQLite database or something for the blocks to hold their info and just make it so we can edit the DB with the XML file. :)
