Thread notifications

When you ignore one or two notifications on a topic, you won't get any furhter alerts on that thread, eventho you are watching it.
Can this be adjusted? I don't always look at all my notifications, but I don't want to miss furhter discussions on most threads either.

You mean the wavy flag "alerts" symbol?
If I'm not mistaken, if you "mark forums read" (under the forum quick links), it resets the notifications as well.
