the new (upgraded*) thingy

In the player list of multiplayer servers, some players, including myself, have a * next to the name. The top of the list tells us that this means the player is upgraded. But what does this mean, does it simply tell me who has and hasnt payed yet? If so, is this really needed?

I think it means that you bought the game

No, I think it means if you updated to the latest update. (Im pretty sure)

That (*) star means you have Upgraded your account, those who did it here, you can also see \"UpgradedAccount\" and the Game Owner icon, looking like a game cartridge.

So if you log on a server with your upgraded account, you get that star, which will also make it so that server admins/staff takes you more seriously than any random multiple accounts troll or abuser.

It is part of the features added to be able to ban forum accounts from a server, so the connection between the two is improved.
