I've finally gotten around to designing and creating a ship that I'm quite proud of. Aesthetically, it merges the design choices of Star Trek, mass effect, modern U.S. Naval destroyers like the Zumwalt and Cruise Ships in order to create a design which is sleek and "Earth Feeling". Ideally, I want it to look a lot like a logical progression from naval earth vessels to space faring ones.

The largest vessel, which is around 300 meters I'm dubbing a "Cruiser". My goal here was to incorporate the inside of a Galaxy class vessel from Star Trek (Enterprise D) with the exterior of Mass Effect's "System's Alliance Cruiser"

Every room has a nice bed, outwards facing windows and some desks and plants in order to create an almost "Hotel-like" atmosphere in the cabins.
This atmosphere ends with the hallways, which are designed to look clean and vibrant.

The main hangar bays are located just between the Engine Nacelles.

I basically just wanted this thing to look like a hot rod space cruise ship. Fast and Sleek. Here's some detail on the bridge and some of the communications equipment.

The lower decks are not quite finished yet, neither is the outer greebling on the back half of the ship and the engines.

The second vessel is much smaller, and assumes the role of an escort frigate. It has a moderately large cargo bay and is useful for chasing off would-be thieves in small fighters.

Just based off its shape, I think I'm gonna have to name it after a pelican. The resemblance is a little too uncanny.

This ship features two large crew quarters, a captains quarters, and a comfortable mess hall as well as a large loading bay.

More coming soon as soon as I can finish the cruiser!
[DOUBLEPOST=1462088934,1462088781][/DOUBLEPOST]A lot of the smaller vessel's design choices were inspired by early concepts for Star Trek Voyager's Intrepid-class "Voyager"

Here are some pictures and ships I used as inspiration:

These are awesome, can definitely see some Litoral Destroyer in there which is really pleasing, I'm a fiend for them :p
Really nice work capturing the "realistic" Terran feel :)

Those interiors are great! I'm praying that the devs will add in a cream/beige block to make proper TNG interiors but I think you definitely got them as close as possible.

I would have most likely done a TNG style bridge had I had actual beige blocks. It ended up looking kinda ridiculous with just the solid block so I left it as is. I'd kill for a proper beige block

I really love the interior colors. Very comforting.
Thanks man. Really feels almost like a hotel when you walk around in it. After I finish the fleet I think I'll go back and do one built as an actual cruise liner.
[DOUBLEPOST=1462245569][/DOUBLEPOST]I updated both ships and got rid of the nacelles to "De trekify" them. They now have engine blocks, which look pretty sweet and glow.

I turned the second vessel into a sort of fuel tanker and did the whole plating. I haven't mustered the courage to finish the hull plating on the cruiser but I'm sure I will eventually.

I have one now! Sniper cannon and sniper missile turrets as well as anti fighter main cannons. This ship was mainly based off of modern planes.

    Nice little engine room

Also has the standard amenities expected aboard a Terran Defense vessel.

I've also made a small freight transport for interfleet travel and trade, as well as short range transport operations.

The bottom box is detachable and able to be swapped out for a passenger cabin, weapons platform or anything else really. Maybe a pool if you so wish.
    Current Fleet lineup:

Still haven't greebling the cruiser but I've gotten some good work in on it. I did redo the bridge though, as it was the first interior I did and a total mess.

I really like that style of building! The work you did with just the paint looks pretty cool too. It makes the flat areas look busy and almost like ship cammo.

Thanks! It's kind of based off of what Star Trek model makers do, it's called "aztecing"

Nice work on that station. I look forward to seeing how you detail it :)

Thanks man! Me too! It's very relaxing building a station, a lot less hectic than a ship. Also fun to use new techniques, like scaffolding for instance.

Going for an airport look, at least on the inside.
Here is the security terminal to go from the docking ports to the main middle station.

    Here is the main terminal.

I'm gonna add "Flight Schedules" to the board later, but I haven't yet determined how exactly I want to do it.

To the left and right here will be the food court.

    All those windows need bulkheads.

Do it or be blown into the vacuum.

If possible, I would recommend removing the brown ceiling slabs and replacing whatever is above them with brown full blocks, to give a smooth transition all the way around from wall to chamfer to ceiling. Maybe change the grey ceiling tiles from full blocks to 3/4 slabs, to give a more recessed feeling, similar to the blue walls, so that the new brown blocks still "sticks" out from the rest of the ceiling. That will leave the light crystals still extending past the grey ceiling, but I think that's acceptable.

Here is the central food court/shopping area/terminal. Any likeness of the Various shops to real world ones is purely coincidental. On the right you can see the "vegetarian" option (Everyone knows space food is synthesized anyways)

Here is McFry's on the top, on the bottom is a tasty Space Japanese restaurant and the every popular "Burrito Gong"

Couldn't fit anything cool or Lorewise into the banner so I just left it with "SPACE" very fitting, as if you go that way, it leads to..well..space.

Theres also a florist on the bottom left (For that special space girl) and a book store on the top left (the orange and white tarp).

I figure the big boards here will have lists of incoming and outgoing vessels. None right now, so like everything else. its blank.

I've also started working on the residential area for both permanent residents and workers as well as passengers waiting for the next shuttle off what I'm now dubbing "Terra Core" and to the next space station.

The hangar looks pretty cool too. Another Security station just for good measure.

Awesome interior there, keep going! Looking great.
Thanks! The interior is half the ship so I want it to look amazing!

I've also worked on the hangars now, you can finally go from one end of the station to another without having to tunnel through walls.

I'm gonna add some vertical racks for even more fighters, as well as more "clutter", it's a bit too clean as it is. I've done a bit more work on it but this is the only pic I've uploaded.

As you can see there's also a sweet new mini fighter

On another note, here is some concept art for my next fleet, drawn on lined paper for maximum quality. The idea is for a "Terran-style" civilian passenger line. The names are just conceptual, but I like the mixing of Latin and English.

Gonna make them so they can dock to my shipyard, maybe turn it into an actual spaceport.
