I do not understand how this can be low priority on the bug tracker when it has such a large impact on gameplay

Because it doesn't have a big effect on gameplay.

Big effect on gameplay means "The game crashes every time you drop Block X" or "You link a monitor to a shield capacitor and it bugs out giving you infinite shields". Those are big effects on gameplay.

Not being able to stop a faction member from messing with your stuff is not a critically important mechanic, its really quite small potatoes in the grand scheme. It will BECOME a big issue in the future... when all the legitimate big issues and gameplay mechanics are fixed/in place and we're working on balancing gameplay more instead of just making sure gameplay works in the first place.

No, it could lead to someone with faction permission dismantling it.

Big difference. No game threatening bugs are present. The only threat is from humans intentionally screwing you over.

Now, if this were a bug that would remove homebase invincibility or let anyone walk in and dismantle your base, that would be another matter, but its not.

If you don't trust your faction members, then don't have faction members until this is cleared up. It otherwise has no affect on you at all, nor does it threaten the integrity of the game in any direct way.

    No, I didn't.

From a programming perspective, the faction permission bug is not a big bug because it does not affect anything else. It allows players to mess with your stuff, but thats a minor issue compared to something that is actually easily exploited and can cause real damage.

Basically, its a bug that can only hurt you if you specifically let it. Stick to one man factions or only allow faction members you can trust and its not a problem.

You would be naive to think people wouldn't attempt to take down your HB from inside. From the PLAYERS perspective it is an issue, and the customer is always right, no?

The faction rank settings are being saved, except when there is to much load/lag/crap going on and the server rejects the change.
the player has to make sure that his settings gone through .. and try again until it did.
it might be required to open the window again to check each time you try.

Doing it on singleplayer with noships loaded, can you just fix it please?

Might need to just double-check faction permissions on everything until this is fixed.

From a user perspective yes, he does, as 'homebase destroyed by game due to bug' is effectively the same as 'homebase destroyed by member due to game bug'.

From a development perspective, he doesn't. A 'critical bug that threatens to destroy your homebase' from a development perspective would be something like a bug that causes your homebase to spontaneously disappear after changing the faction permissions or a bug that turns a homebased station into its original single-grey-armor-block state when unloaded and reloaded due to an issue with station saving.

This, on the other hand, seems to just be a minor network-related bug with permission change transmission from client to server.
