Sound Bug

All,

I have been playing this game, but have experienced a consistent issue with the sound engine. I hear a constant chirruping almost like that of crickets, with no other noises being audible and it is very distracting to the point where I disable the sound in order to play the game.



Brief specs:

OS: Windows 7

CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 560 Processor (2 CPUs), ~3.3GHz

RAM: 4GB

GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 460

Sound: Onboard VIA Deck

I too have the same issue, but I muted the game through windows mixer because sound off from the options didn\'t do anything.

My sound card is a Realtek integrated from ASUS P5K-SE motherboard, using version R2.71 driver which is the latest.

Try to go to your Starmade folder, then go to native, then to windows, so ...\\StarMade\\native\\windows

There, depending on whether you are on a 32-bit or 64-bit system, copy either OpenAL32.dll or in the \"x64\" folder that\'s inside, copy OpenAL64.dll, and paste it in your C:\\windows\\system32 folder (both of them if you are using 64-bit, better safe than sorry).

Overwrite when asked.

This fixes sound issues in most cases, but not for all cases I think, so try it out and see if it works.

That works, thanks... but it\'s not a propper fix because it may create issues, I renamed my original file in case I have issues in other games... I hope an official fix comes for this, to use the file from the game instead of installed openAL.

If you\'re on a 64bit OS, makes sure you\'ve installed a 64bit version of Java. That resolved the issue for me.
