Not only will it include FTL but it will also include revamped universe generation.
edit: I've been saving this rant for a while, this eels as good a place as any to post it.
It's a recent thing that this sort of topic even exists. You used to be able to play around with new features in the devbuild pretty freely.
When I first started playing the game the dev builds were easily accessible by the entire community. Everyone was free to play to the upcoming versions with the caveat that these were unstable builds and weren't to be used for MP. I know that I became a tester (for a very short period of time) by downloading the devbuilds on my own and reporting bugs myself.
For whatever reason at some point, the testing process was revamped. About two months ago the devbuilds were no longer available for download. I'll admit that when I joined the testing process was pretty awful. There was little structure, and nobody had any real idea how to report bugs. AndyP's new bug tracker could be better but is still miles above what we used to work with. But I feel like removing general access to the devbuild alienates the community from the development process. On the old forums skoomer said that the community itself was basically a massive tester staff, the official testers were just the first line of defense (or words to that effect).
"Oh but comro, we have to keep it private for security reasons!" Bullshit. If that was the case skoomer wouldn't announce the upcoming features in each update. Since that's all that appears in each build, there is absolutely nothing lost from this. Furthermore, testers wouldn't be allowed to show off upcoming features. It just confuses me, that's all.
"Oh but comro, they have to protect the code!" It's protected by nature. Try to crack open the Schine engine. I dare you. The whole damn thing is obfuscated. Hell, the reason SMEdit was discontinued for months was because the code was obfuscated and skoomer didn't want to work with the developer.
Honestly, it seems to me that the restriction of devbuilds is based more off of social circle reasons rather than actual security reasons. If anyone wants to chime in and shed some light on the matter feel free.
edit^2: Someone pointed out to me in a private channel that Calbiri has taken over as the Dev-player link. Not gonna lie, that hasn't been going well. Rillest talk, the only times I've really seen him do stuff is when he shows up with the shroomies (which borders on the edge of favoritism) or when he goes to play "woe is me" in chat after an update.
