Npc ships no cargo

I have successfully taken over an npc cargo ship and changed its faction. When I go to its cargo hold, there's nothing in the storage. I noticed in some Yotube videos of older versions of Starmade that there was loot in the cargo after the recorder steels the ship and checks the storage. Was this feature removed or is there something funny happening?

npc ships used to drop random crap when overheating.
the current npc ships do not carry cargo in their onboard storage that can be looted afaik.
pretty sure that should be changed in the way that simulated cargo transfer should spawn in ships ... no clue when or if at all.
