New Server Help

      Hello!

      I am attempting to run a SM server for the first time...
      Can somebody please point me to a help source with server problems / crashes?

      You'll probably be able to find related issues by copying the top part of an error and pasting it into google adding 'starmade' to the end.

      What issue(s) are you experiencing? Perhaps someone here can help you with it :)

      Yes have been searching feverishly bei google...
      I believe we are experiencing the infamous loading Asteroids in sektor bug...
      please see the snippet.

      Is there any central source for help with servers? (aside form phab.starma)

      Waiting for Pong is an annoying quirk of the game, and in general can be ignored. I don't see anything of any concern in there.

      It's caused by the server performing slowly. Look into upgrading if you need to

      I've heard other admins say that the replenishing asteroids causes problems. Try disabling them in your configs.

      yes we are pretty certain it has todo with the asteroids spawning/replenishing/duplicating, we will be trying that next if turning off physics does not help.
      The server is highly unlikely to be the cause.

      Pretty much all ends here... if you do find anything it's likely out of date. :)
      Late to the party I know, but that above log as far as I can tell is a couple of asteroids banging on each other.. Go to sector 2 3 7 and /destroy_entity on any roids. Looks for ones with a 'fuzzy' hud target as that indicates doubles with two targets over top of each other..
      Asteroid physics + respawn = major lag issues when the asteroids do double spawn and try to move away from each other.
      Asteroid physics + respawn disabled = Haven't tried it....
      Asteriod physics disabled + respawn = occasional need for an admin to despawn a double asteroid however it normally* won't lag out the server to the point it kills it... *YMMV depending on server performance.
