Looking for a server with controlled PVP.

Preferably someplace with safe zones to build and zones where anything goes.

Most interested in learning the details of this game how to build design construct ships and stations.

When you say safe zones to build, you mean a build account separately where you can save bps to use in your normal account, or you mean a homebase system or what?

Well there are quite a few servers which allow you to make two accounts. One where you get creative mode and some admin commands but are stuck hundreds of thousands of km from main galaxy and other is normal account. That way you can build and chat with community same time. Then you just save ships you made as blueprints and use them (once you fill them in), with your normal account.

Alternatively, there is a server that might interest you called Genxnova. This server has a galaxy dedicated to PVP, a galaxy for PVE and a galaxy for both (starting galaxy is for both). There are warpgates from spawn to the other galaxies. Maybe this is what you are looking for?

The demo for the game is the complete game. Right now, buying doesn't change anything beyond giving a badge here on the forums. Eventually they'll allow only purchased accounts in, so those of us who purchase now get a discount

This is available on many servers.
3 Good servers that come to mind for this are: Genxnova, Light vs Dark and Bitminery. They all have this option of allowing a build and a not build account. (note: there are many others too, these are just first three that come to mind)
