Is there any way to place markers around the world?

I was just wondering, as this is the only thing preventing me from wanting to really do anything on the game. I feel as though once I build something then fly away I will never be able to find my way back without the ability to place markers around the world such as "Home Base", "Resourceful Planet", etc. Is this possible?

Best thing to do would be to open up a notepad and note down specific sectors that contain planets, shops or other objects/features that you would like to come back to. At a later date you can then use navigation to enter in the sector you wish to travel to and it will give you a waypoint ot the desination.
