How to create a .obj file

I'm trying to like make a 3D model of the Keldabe battleship from star wars but I don't know what program or software or anything to use. Can someone help?

For a complete beginner, look up Sketch Up.

It's probably the quickest way to build a simple ship and export it as a .obj file if you've never modelled before.

After I downloaded it I clicked on Sketchup but i'm not sure what i'm supposed to do after that

Have a look on youtube for some Sketch Up tutorial videos. This will get you started with how to use the program. After that it's just practice.
