Frame rate problem after new updates

Has anyone else experienced a frame rate problem after the latest update? For some reason, the frame rate will swing between 1 and 150, going back and forth between the two every few minutes. It didn't do that before the update and I haven't changed my settings, so I tend to think it's something with the new update.

Try allocating more memory to the game. It sounds like it's periodically loading from disk, causing the lag spikes.

Thanks, Crusade. I'm probably pushing my system as it is, given that it's several years old. Looks like Starmade might give me a good enough reason to upgrade. :D
