factions?

    the name says it all im thinking of add factions maybe like: miner (gives extra mining bonus on harvesters) navy (extra damage bonus on guns/missles and gets credits by killing pirates) pirate (extra damage bonus on guns/missles and gets credits by killing navy)
    trader:(gets extra credits when selling stuff and a small discount on item)

    like it? add more possiblities down below :)

    Terms "Navy" "Pirates" remind One Piece x) But how will faction will work ? Choosing one of them ? Or be "sided" for your actions (attacking pirates will be more navy sided & pirates vs navy etc ... )

    Faction Miner : Can buy minerals & basic stuff which can be raffinered for advance build/use
    - Navy : Like you said, having a reward for attacking pirates would be cool ? Main military power of the game ? Can purchase advanced weaponry or military ships ?
    - Pirates : Scattered across the galaxy, pirates attacks if you neutral or "navy" sided ? Smalls groups to big fleets ? Purchase "special" items ?
    - Traders : Located on precise points (like shops) you can buy almost everything except advanced stuff ?
    - Neutrals : Which can be representative by neutrals planets/countries, everyone could get there without being attack by local forces/defenses ?

    but im thinking of a system like
    your navy: you team kill one of your fellow navy you get demoted to a lower rank and so on and so on till you are so low that you are a pirate
    and the pirates: you team kill a pirate you dont have any ranks you get money till you reached around 10 team kills you get accepted by the navy
    miners: no change on influance
    same as traders
    neutrals: same as pirate and navy
    both the navy as the pirates will be able to conquer planets and sectors miners and traders can hire both of these factions to protect them durning there journies

    So you have to choose a faction ? But also your actions are couting in ?
    (for me choose a faction means you cant get back, once you have choose, its over x) )
    Maybe a "Action-Consequence" system is better, like in GTA2
    You begin neutral, but as attacking a faction,you gain respect from its enemy for killing its member & more respect you got & more advantage you got (in GTA2, factions members helps you to fight police when they after you) but if you decide to switch faction, you only need to attack the faction's troups you were in. (guess you were thinking a system like this) but you never decide to "choose directly/permanently" your faction.

    Im not really a fan of factions conquering planets, except if you talking about PvP for "RP" issue but not the factions AI troops doing it, of course AI troops can be deployed to defend a conquered planet.

    Of courses, miners/traders/neutral can have some Navy/Pirates escorts/defense troops in add/or to "say" they more Navy or Pirates.

    In neutral territories, i think a anti-attack warning should be displayed, attacking a player (no side couting) or a facility would lead to a reaction of defense troops to destroy the agressor.

    These are just ideas, not sure if they can put easily in the game ><

    Maybe factions like in Freelancer...
    Freelancer is really good in factions.
    From Junkers to Hackers.
    From Outcasts to Corsairs.
    From Miners to Energy corps.

    Faction would be great. There is a bukkit plug that adds the ablity to minecraft and I know it is much loved.
    Schema perhaps a new block that is placed close to the PlexUndeathinator(Spawn block)? Any one who presses R on it will join the faction connected to it. For now faction names could be random, you don't see to have any type of text input.

    I dont think restricting players to certain \"jobs\" is a good idea. When I read \"factions\" I rather think about player-run groups (e.g. clans/guilds) that can claim sectors at their homes, but up their manufacturing (planned crafting concepts) and defend/expand on that. (yes, thats a bit towards the \"Factions\"-Plugin for Minecraft).
    I would not add any kind of bonus system yet. The overall balancing has to be more refined first (as schema said) before you can/should add more on top of that.
