    Ahoy!

Music and sound is my thing here. I've been working on the soundtrack, which some of you may have already heard on Twitch. Hopefully this thread will provide a more permanent location to listen to demos/samples/works-in-progresses.

I'm a media composer, so I certainly try my hardest to let the medium inform what I write. Hopefully that means the music will fit the universe of StarMade! To that end, I'm going for a hybrid electronic/orchestral/ambient score.

If you're curious of my background, I'm a classically trained pianist and delved into jazz and contemporary in early high school. I immersed myself in orchestral music, playing percussion back in high school orchestras. I started composing seriously a few years after I finished high school, and after failing accounting I ended up following my passions, studying a Bachelor of Music (Applied Composition), a course that focuses on media composition and audio for film and games. Haven't looked back since.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

    Edit 1: Demos! Enjoy \o/

I wish you good luck. Setting a track for SM sounds like a big challenge, for the big variety of atmospheres we have on many servers. Build servers do have a more light-hearted atmosphere when you are into, while some PvP/Heavy RP servers may receive a more serious tone better.

Perhaps we could have two sets of tracks which the server owners would choose which one will fit better. That would mean more work for you, but I think it would be cool, hehe.

One of my favorite things about music in games is how it is chosen/played. EVE Online has (or had) a built in jukebox. Company of Heroes has three versions of the same track and switches to the more exciting version when things are happening onscreen. The From Software games all have unique boss themes with good transitions...

I'm looking forward to seeing what you folks come up with in regards to the sound engine and how Dank's music is doled out in the game.
