from my limited knowledge, its either a griefer(in your faction or not) your base is too close to the sun, or you have serious trouble with pirates.

    No it isnt.

Look at the first screen in the second post.

No player can build this blocks and there is no sun in the near.

Its a massiv save error from server.

this bug only can schema fix i am sure.

I\'ve experienced this aswell. But it only happened once and didnt keep damaging. I had hug chunks of perfectly cut blocks taken out of my ship, funny thing was that it was on my singleplayer world. I would definitely like to know what happened.

Ok, when watching this, it looks like partial rollbacks of single areas within that sector.

when watching this, i see its partially like it was hours ago.
I rebuild it to look similar to our other docks, and made it longer before

Exept the white instead of purple it looked exactly the same.
The modified sections got rollbacked, the New sections are somehow intact but on an early build phase. (maybe the first 15 minutes)

    also:

suddenly there was a hole in our base

in exactly this area, i removed a \"build block\" that evening.

Looks like some problem with updating \"saved data\", creation seems ok somehow.

My ship got rollbacked a few hours too.
The rest of the world was still normal and not rollbacked.

Comparing the screens, I see the purple area got also rollbacked partially.
Parts wich were there days ago, are ok.
The newbuild extended dock, is there, the changed area got rollbacked too.
The freigter that got docked there, lost all its block within the new area (\"chunk\"? in minecraft world thinking)

Only officials would get whitelisted, or maybe get logs on contacting the serverowner.

    It was a partial rollback.

Andy sayed me he finished the 4 lifts and all 4 are now gone. and he have the buildblocks back in his inventar.

But it was only a partial rollback. The admin dont have made a full rollback...

so only schema can help or any one here know a resolution

    Edit : http://star-made.org/content/whole-sections-go-missing

Its a old known bug and nothing happends... that s..s

That calls before that extrem critical bug isnt fixed i dont play that ...

This should not expand to spam, but, looks like a long term problem.

With this many servers/locations having this problem, it maybe possible to reconstruct the problem?
Large servers, seems to be a good bet, or single player, with maybe insufficient power.
Maybe a filehandle glitch? or something that maybe findable in a log?

This is what happened, it was on the server, i had build my ship, and it had just beginning autosaving when the server crashed. when it came back up, a lot of ships were \"corrupted\" like this....

however we all became rich because the majority of blocks we were given were LVL 5 ores.... xD

Maybe, the first time this occured we were testing our new planet-eater.
    Video: Youtube - Planeteater

We noticed the first missing chunks and rollbacks the next day.

Worried about this, we asked the admin, to look at cpu load and overall system ressources while using it.
He told: 1-3% without miner, 2-6% with miner working. So no problem.
The whole night after this all was fine. No problems, or bugs.

    The next day,
every single part that was modified in that night, got \"corrupted\" or \"rollbacked\". New created stuff, was still there. Everything that had blocks in it before, got rollbacked, to some hours before the miner use.
Anything modified WHILE miner was in use, and hat blocks in it, got deleted completely.

Maybe the origin are some badly overflown \"write to disk\" buffers?
Did anyone test or use similar high \"blockstress\" tools? 3 axis mirrored 10x10x10 buildblock usage, or maybe a similar \"megaminer\" and have this problem too?

    To clarify:
Our miner has around 170~ 0.1sec/block salvage cannons. And farms a 35 blocks wide circle.

JTJSniperBee: Please, stay in your thread with your chat-bug, this is something else, that isnt related to it.
Please dont spam this issue, since it really impacts game experience.

    Thanks.

I really would love to fix the bug, but I have no way to see how it happens. I need to be able to reproduce the bug.

There are also some versions of the bug. Some instances are pretty much not completely fixable. For example if the server hardware crashes (bluescreen, shutdown) in the middle of the save process. A normal software crash should be fine.

Please send me the server logs directly after this happens. Ill do my best to fix it.

For the one that was posted initially in this thread. It really doesn\'t look like the bug. There is a \"all or nothing\" in the save process, so either 16x16x16 chunks are gone, or nothing, and since the save process doesn\'t involve sections that are empty, new blocks seem impossible to me. Please call an admin next time, he can determine who last changed a structure.

Ok, so its impossible by the code to discard updated chunks after a while, accept new created chunks and leave all chunks that were already there intact?

    Looked like:
Old unchanged chunks -> stay 100% the way they were
Chunks that were Empty before -> got saved, and stayed the way after first \"begin level saving prepare for lag\"
Chunks that had blocks in them before -> Rollbacked to a state right before the miner was used

It cant be any \"write buffer\" overrun/crash by using the big miner?
We are going to check and try to reproduce the bug on the server we were playing on.
Also I set up a small personal server, wich will undergo a good stresstest, with some miners while modifying other blocks before and after.
