Charged lasers

I was thinking about an laser that is much more powerful than the normal antimatter cannon but it takes time to charge up, fire then cool down

The beam could be a block wide (so if you had a 3x3 cannon you would have a 3x3 laser)

Oh and it would probably use much more energy than anything else...

I totally agree on this. Several restrictions for it may be necessary though.
