Systems should be much heavier than hull and armor. As in, system blocks should be at least as heavy as advanced armor.

    Why?

This stems from the reason system stuffing happened to begin with. Exterior blocks other than hull are fairly heavy, and hull has no defensive value except for providing HP. In order to minimize the weight of their builds, people try to reduce the amount of extra armor they need to cover things. This leads to hulls that look like a toy ship that's been filled with expanding foam.

Reducing hull/armor mass and increasing system mass in comparison makes the main cost of interior spaces and exterior details (extra hull/armor) less significant. If this had been done before, even the old power would have been almost okay in this respect (although it had a host of other unfixable problems, so it still needed to be replaced with this awesome new system!).

This won't fix system stuffing or the disadvantages of decoration in one go, but it will make a large improvement.

Advanced Armor needs to stay special.

But I agree if systems are between standard and advanced in weight.

    Intersting approach.
I'm pretty sure this could be modded or changed via the block editor for a server right:?

If someone wanted to mod it, yes. You’d have to make thrusters stronger too, though.

Yes in the block config file, it is easy although a bit time consuming to change everything.

Another person asking for the game to be changed to make their rp ship more powerful. Standard armor is completely viable for pvp ships, many people use it, it doesn't add anything but it also doesn't instantly ruin their ships. If you are having trouble making standard armor work, learn better system design.

And no, it doesn't make sense that a shield capacitor would have more mass than a solid cubic meter of metal (or whatever material it is).

While I agree that that heavy armor encourages system stuffing, light armor encourages various other exploitative stuff which is much more toxic than system stuffing. Frankly, system stuffing is not bad for the game. It reduces client side lag and armor mass requirements in exchange for making you more vulnerable to explosive weapons. If you want your RP ship to kick ass, just put your RP sections where you expect to get hit and you'll see more than enough ROI to justify the weight.
