So I wanted to poll the community on what Block Light Quality setting they play with.

The reason being that I use a lot of lighting effects, especially with force fields, and that setting effects how they look like, by like a lot. I noticed after an update changed my settings (48) and my engines looked really dull.

I figured that if most people play at a certain setting, I would build with that setting so what I build is what you see.

So, post what setting you play at and why!

Edit: the Media thing screwed it up, here's direct link: Block Light Quality

EDIT: Added 16 and 32 as well as example images of each setting.

I use 64 because I think lighting is too "weak" when set to 48 and too intense when any higher.

64 or 128 depending on whether I'm taking screenshots or not.

64 is good for actively building and shooting things. 48 looks awful in general.

128 most often, as the update time is just-right and I use a lot of advanced shapes that need more advanced lighting to look good.

I can honestly say I've never even looked at that setting. Time to mess about with it, I guess. ^^

EDIT: Wow, upped it to 128 and interiors look so much nicer.

In Vaygr it is standard to use 16, everyone has it set like this.

16? That's not an option and it would make the game look like a Rolling Stone song.

I hate the number of light blocks required to light up an area on 48 to 64, hence I use 128/150, 256 is a little bright for making any dark areas though...

Agreed, 150 for me because I don't like to flood areas with light blocks, I like to use other decorative blocks sometimes.

It is an option in game, not on the poll though. Improves render speed tenfold however.

There's no 16 option in the settings themselves, in the GUI.

So I'm guessing you're referencing "LIGHT_RAY_COUNT = XX //Block light quality (impacts chunk refresh time, but not fps)" and manually entering 16.

Is this correct? Or are you confusing it the VBO setting?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found that in game you can go lower, updating post
