Battlefleet Gothic

Well I recently discovered that someone decided to set up a Battlefleet Gothic Server. As I have always loved the very unique style of BG I just had to jump in. Unfortunately at present there are few Gothic style ships available. So to help out Im introducing two small escort ships. The Imperial Cobra Destroyer and Chaos's Iconoclast Destroyer. I'm hoping these designs will be well received.

Nice, do you have more planned?

I'd forgotten about that server, I said i'd make a few necron ships for them. But I only did the cruiser then forgot about it, maybe I should fix that.

These are some very good imitations of the originals. Did you eyeball the proportions or use some kind of measurement?

I used the Mark I Eyeball. Of course there are a great many pictures and art on the internet especially for Imperial ships. I drew many inspirations and dimension clues from that material. I used the Rogue Trader Battlefleet supplement for ship length information.

As a general rule of thumb here is how I am building. This is 1/10th scale. I think a larger scale just becomes exponentially increasing work.
Battleships 1km length
Grand Cruisers 750m
Cruisers 500m
Light Cruisers 300-400m
Escorts 100-200m

At the moment I am working on a number of escort class ships for the 4 main races. Imperium, Chaos, Ork, and Eldar. My thinking is I can probably turn out 1-2 escort hulls a week where a cruiser or battleships may take a month or more. So I'm going for the low hanging fruit first.

Well its been a busy week. More Battlefleet Gothic ships rolling off the shipyard. Here is the Imperial Sword Class Frigate at 180m and the Chaos Infidel Raider at 150m. I have recently discovered the Starmade40k server for all you Battlefleet fans out there. While the server is still very new there are some good people already roaming through.

With the exception of the stupid Ork who stole my mining ship, I'm going to find you buddy!
