Scrapping my other project for the time being and starting anew. I'm going for a Warhammer 40k Necron themed ship. In Battlefleet Gothic, a staple of their ship designs is the crescent with a pyramid (Monolith) as the core room. What I think I'm gonna do is have a big towering Monolith behind the bow (pictured below) where the core is for the power/storage/shield room.

There's plenty of room in the crescent bow I've completed (touchups and decoration still needed) for weapons and additional shielding, and I think I'm going to put some smaller Monoliths on the top of it as some point defense turrets.

Comments, suggestions, questions, all are welcome. I'd love to hear from some other 40k fans for some input. Also as this is my first real project, and tips are much appreciated.

Got the Monolith hull done, next I\'ll make it\'s connection to the weapons area a bit neater so it\'s not so out of place looking, and then a little decoration.

This is lookig good so far, you should square off the pyramid and add a cresent on each side to balance it out a bit.

Yeah there\'s a lot more coming. I don\'t think I\'ll put a crescent on each side I\'ve got some different ideas to try. I did the slightly rectangular design on purpose because I think I\'m gonna add three Pylons on each side as secondary weapons and add the tall vents on the side and back like the normal Necron Monolith has with a smaller but much more complex crescents on the back for engines.

Now I\'ve got a technical question. I\'ve heard from people on this forum that power blocks gain much more strength when formed in a lattice structure than a solid block, and the storage blocks vice versa. How does that work for the shields, weapons, and the rest of the units that gain benefit from being grouped together? I\'ve heard they work better as big blocks but just making sure.

Small update, finished with the main big decorations on the Monolith, really happy with how the bars running up the side and back turned out. With the back piece that stretches over the Monolith I wanted to make it look like a cobra and I think it worked pretty well and looks good.

    More updates tomorrow most likely.
