After watching a new streamer play attempt to build turrets for the first time. This was one thing that was an odd usability issue was this.

Allow the use of up/down arrow keys, and ctrl arrow/keys while you are in build mode. Should make building turrets and other odd docked entities easier.

This is a bit confusing, do you mean using the arrow keys like switching from ship core to camera, but in build mode switching from one docked entity to another docked entity (ship core to ship core)?

If you've played From the Depths they use the [ and ] brackets to switch from the main ship (entity) to connected spin blocks/turrets (sub-entities).

Exactly I want to swap between cores while in build mode and flight mode.

Agreed. This is one of many little time-wasters that knocks me out of 'flow' state on a build.

Totally agree. Being able to transfer directly would make builds with loads of docked entities way easier to work with.

It would be nice if we didn't have to lock build mode down to a single entity. I would like if it was something like graphic editing were each entity was it's own layer. So that you should be able to switch between layers/entities very easily. It could be as easy as picking which entity to add a block to by selecting it from list of entities that are located within the shipyard.

    Just a thought :)

Or just allow you to build on all sub-entities of a structure you're working on.
Rather, give that as an option.
