I've been thinking of a damn good and fun reason to expand beyond the homebase.

So how about building stations that coordenate with mining fleets to allow
automatic mining without loading anything (but it will still use the fleet's current position, etc).

I could order a mining fleet to mine on a system (idk if it should be a manual or automatic selection of sectors), and when finished it will unload it's contents on the shop module of a defined station and repeat.

Then i could have a trading fleet to transport the goods to another station.

But the catch is ... the station has to be in the same system in order to mine and collect automatically.

Why would you not claim more systems and get so many resources?

    Tell me what you think.

Yep pretty much what they said, they already have something in mind to spice up some things.

If what the Devs have planned is somewhat similar to this suggestion, I'd be fine with that. Good suggestion overall.

We definitely have different plans to encourage expansion to do with factions. Thanks for the suggestion, some form of it will no doubt find its way into the mechanics of fleets and faction stations

Long as theres a limit on mining fleets per SYSTEM, this would be awesome
Keeps it real simple, uses primarily existing mechanics (well, once we get fleets working unloaded anyway, which is planned), gives others something to hit beyond an invincible homebase, and defenders a reason to actually DEFEND.

I see no problem with this :D

Ooh, yea. This would give you a good reason to blow up those enemies who come to salvage in your territory, stay outta my solar system, beggars!

This is an alright suggestion in itself, but it relies on less-than-perfect automation to be balanced. It may seem good in itself, but if it becomes an important part of the game, we'll find ourselves unable to implement any actual, versatile automation features without breaking balance.
