      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Actually, the x51 R2 has darned good hardware for the price too (half that of the area 51), and it can run crysis 3 at max graphics (albeit at about 40 fps). the 760 card is behind the curve ball, but both the i7 and the video card run cool as an icebox...no area 51 water cooling required (and...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Ooh, I look forward to it, especially since, based on your other posts, you have a... uniquely creative launching system. I love a good space battle. My other area 51 should be arriving next week too, so I might have more playtime. At least on the weekends. Just saved up the money for 2 years...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

heh, no, I am casual. play for two hours a day. My wife is playing witcher 3 on the machine right now. but tomorrow I will look into it. Is that where you are hosting your ship? I would love to see it 'in action', even if all you are doing is blowing up a crappy pirate base. Do you have a vid?

Charon 2.0 - A WIP super titan [Update 5 : new medium turret]

are you using old style turrets because of the mass problem with rails right now?

Thanks man, I am glad to be back. The update is... stunning, both visually and functionally. The game passed out of my last computer's ability to handle, but I just got a nice new area 51. Just to play starmade :) Now I gotta find a decent server in middle america without too many titans on it :)

      Question about turrets

currently there is a bug affecting chain docking rails, where each link in the chain squares the mass. That means that the bottom joint in your turret, is looking at the 'barrels' and, assuming that you only have two axis points, it is assuming that their weight is squared. in the case of...

Is Starmade a Steam scam ?

I am sorry, I really really tried hard to follow this thread, but Wagfeliz' Vogonics were simply too hard to follow. It was like listening to a 6 year old trying to explain why his dad wears a tinfoil hat. *Vogonics- Much like Ebonics, only spoken by 'Vogons! trolling the Galaxy since 1979!'

Charon 2.0 - A WIP super titan [Update 5 : new medium turret]

And he takes his gloriously beautiful, incredibly optimized masterpiece into MP battle and it gets demolished in seconds by what is, in essence, a vogon destructor ship... a gigantic brick. (grin)

yeah, restarted after a year, and I realized that money wasn't EASY anymore. previously you just find a starbase, descompose it, build giant blocks and schematic them for armor/hull as needed, and build a titan in about three hours. Now, I have been spending a WEEK getting all the materials...

      Kupu's thread

I just wish there was more difference between the basic/standard/advanced factory modules. Even with white lights, it is difficult for me to tell them apart. add a hint of colored light and they become completely indistinguishable. I edited the textures a bit to add a big ol' 'B' "S" and "A" on...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

ugh, that makes drones almost useless to me. I mean, unless you are just so stupidly rich you can throw them away. I remember schema working on this over a year and a half ago. I tried to become a 'purchaser' but apparently Schine's payserver is outside of the continental US. Gotta find another...

How far could rail tech be taken?

Is english your second language? How could you possibly misunderstand what I said? "Warm for the rest of his life' is the problem. not 'forever', because a man isn't warm forever when you set him on fire. Then he's dead. It kinda spoils the joke and the understated cynicism. Now, if you wanted...

How far could rail tech be taken?

snk- sorry for saying this, but the saying is "Make a man a fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man ON fire, and he's warm for the rest of his life." (implying his life will be very short) The way you have it in your sig is driving my OCD crazy.

Docking should be split: Rails, Turret, Fixed

I would like to point out that I served a naval gun for many years. and the argument that 'most of the gun is not in the turret' doesn't hold water. The base of a 9 inch gun or even most 'main battle guns' was composed of the following items: ammunition feed/ejection mechanism (irrelevant in...

How to make efficient salvage beams and lower lag

Do slaved pulse systems even work? I slaved the pulse damage computer to my salvage computer and it seemed to have absolutely no effect. Or is it more complicated than simply highlighting the salvage computer (c) and then slaving the pulse damage computer (v)?

How to make efficient salvage beams and lower lag

So takeaway is: Small mining ships do old school checkerboards, 18 long, slaved to a pulse for efficient asteroid removal in large chunks. Large Mining ships make a 'line' of 200 block miners that look something like a cpu heat sink slaved to a cannon cpu medium ships and large mining turrets...
