Piloting seats, control consoles, and dealing with incredibly silly core centralization.

Alright then, apparently most people here agree with me on the first point(s) at least partially... should I make this only about the Console Block?

Piloting seats, control consoles, and dealing with incredibly silly core centralization.

Crossposted from another topic: I see two, maybe three, main issues with combat, and indeed, the game in general. One, it's all about the core. You build around the core, rotate around the core, magically get sucked into the core and see out of it to pilot the ship, and if it's destroyed you...

Space battles should be more epic

No fuel. I don\'t know what the solution might be, but... no fuel. Please. It doesn\'t sound like incentive to use smaller ships, it just sounds ANNOYING. Perhaps the drawback to megaton ships should be lack of practical access to jumpgates.

I already said the hull buff thing. Also, replying to Furb, perhaps the ship\'s geometric center could also be its pivot point, making core drilling even harder... (If pilot\'s chairs like I always ask for are ever implemented, this would be a quite logical tweak)

Space battles should be more epic

If AMCs are going to be weakened, it had better be just by diminishing returns - say, a 10-block-long AMC weenie should barely lose any damage, but a massive 10000-some block doom cannon should lose a significant amount of... well, doom.

LARGE BUT PLEASE READ! SCHEMA! Cockpit glass HUD, cockpit that is a controller not a computer, facti

Why in the world would you want wheels and runways taking up space when all ships are VTOL by nature? And stations becoming ships feels really, really cheaty.

Suggestions for a lot of stuff: Trains, maps, auto-pilot and more.

Trains sound ridiculously complicated and unnecessary (Turbolift-like things would be better), but everything else is something I\'ve found myself wanting one time or another. ...having crewmembers actually sit and itneract (sic) with consoles instead of getting sucked in into magical control...

Space battles should be more epic

I see two, maybe three, main issues with combat, and indeed, the game in general. One, it\'s all about the core. You build around the core, rotate around the core, inexplicably \"get into\" and see out of the core to pilot the ship, and if it\'s destroyed you and your ship die. Also, it\'s all...

Space battles should be more epic

Sadly; naval ships have difficulty flying through air. For this reason it makes sense for a naval ship to carry things that can fly through air and go places that a naval ship can\'t.You don\'t see \"naval ships that carry naval ships\" being used for naval warfare though, because there\'s no...

My first ship of any appreciable worth: The Karas Tlen-class Runabout.

LIGHTNESS. As in lack of mass. Not as in pwetty glowy icy crystals of glowyness.

My first ship of any appreciable worth: The Karas Tlen-class Runabout.

I actually DID connect them at one point but it ended up looking really bad... So I just left it as it was. It\'s the tiniest bit clumsy, but the general lightness of the ship mostly makes up for the engine inefficiency.

      Escape pod docking port

+1 to this. I\'ve never figured out how to do anything like this.

My first ship of any appreciable worth: The Karas Tlen-class Runabout.

It's small and it sports a part of flimsy Isanth Industries antiproton cannons, but it does look pretty cool. (Inspired by the Vulcan D'kyr-class) Front: Rear, showing small shuttle/repair bee (Also why we should have ice crystal wedges): ...It also looks really cool when it's...

      Building and colonizing planets

As much as colonizing is already implemented, for some reason you can\'t name planets with faction blocks, which would be the last missing colonization feature... It stores the string but it doesn\'t display the name on radar.

A way to name a sector, asteroid, etc.

Seriously, we need these features... Especially since planets all look alike externally unless there\'s stuff in orbit.

      Dodecahedron Planets, easy implimentation.

I never said that the escape velocity is bad, I was just making a comment about it. This IS a ship game, after all, and a building game, not a survival game with ships as a final tier of technology. But that doesn\'t mean the planets should just be glorified giant asteroids.

Light adjustments. Lights too weak, space too bright.

Title says it all. As it stands, space, and thus planets, are really bright, even at night. IMO you should need PlexLights to see well if there is no sun above or nearby. (Shops should have PlexLights and beacons added to them to avoid ones far from stars being invisible). Also, it is currently...

Warp, Gates, and FTL: the merits of each

I\'d like to see multiple methods, as said before. Warp drive should be really easy, but take MASSIVE amounts of power and have an extremely long cooldown, making it basically capital-only. Gates should be unlimited for ship size, but static, and still require a lot of power for a large one...

      Dodecahedron Planets, easy implimentation.

Actually the point of ships is to be able to get between planets and other bodies... And stations, which are normally used because it\'s hard to get stuff into space, are actually unneeded from a practical standpoint because the planetary escape velocity is so low. If anything, planets should...

      Ship Catalog Royalties!!!!

This would probably create \"buy my awesome new [ship/turret] blueprint called X\" spam, and make ships more expensive... There are probably even other issues with it that I haven\'t yet foreseen.
