Joining them doesn't do anything directly, leaving them does. I would still not recommend actually joining them with a playercharacter though; It is impossible to recover the npc factions if they get deleted/messed up since support for that kind of stuff isn't there yet

ram is not important for starmade at all, the amount of ram it uses is pretty random: sometimes it uses 5 gigs with ~40 people on, and other times it is capped out at 24 when there are 15...

Isn't it possible to rename the pirate faction? then you can just join it and give it a hombebase

I already have the additional random spawning ability working for the TRA server, the major problem is that you can't spawn too many or you will start running into trouble with storage space

it is possible to be able to do several things, but just because someone can do paint/photoshop doesn't immediatly mean they can do sound (which, as far as i know, is harder).

i don't think the slots system works very well for starmade, amount of people online is only very slightly related to server perfromance

You don't "need" a mod to do this (altough i do use a program to spread out mobs across a certain area) you can just use /spawn_mobs to spawn mobs places and that would be "like" the pirates, the main probelm would be faction relation control and atm there are no mods (at least no mods that can...

those are two completely different skillsets

Terraforming a planet will be a pain in the ass, since (as far as i could see in the video) every face of the planet is a seperate entity/planet and you would only be able to edit one face at a time

The combat should be more exciting first though, it would be very anticlimatic to have music raising the tension... only to core drill your opponent in a few seconds (if the guns even work)

It all depends on how much experience you have with running servers, if you know how to do it you can rent servers pretty cheap if you don't know anything about it you might want to go to a managed server provider, and those are more expensive

Your ingame name has nothing to do with the login system, they can be completely different. I for instance have "AutoAdmin" registered as one of my in game names on the server i play on, while my account name is "Mowa2" (i also use mowa2 && Mowa2 without any issues)

I defenitely agree, this seems kind of generic "modern" / "hip", with all the flat controls and squares

You don't need them all loaded at once... the game (usually) unloads empty sectors
