Slightly off topic:
I'm really liking the trend towards smaller ships both here and on servers ever since the blueprints change. It gives each player a greater sense of agency and makes true titans far more awe inspiring than they used to be.
While small ships being unable to do damage could be unfair in some situations I have no problem with a 100 mass fighter being completely unable to damage a 10 block thick slab of armor.
On the side note:
Missiles do damage in stages which are only partially effected by armor. The missile does...
I must have been playing Tyranids for too long, my first though was 'Tasty biomass'. GL with the faction, may drop in randomly with a ship if I ever start building again (currently waiting for docking changes because I use a lot of docked auto-guns)
I really think that it should be possible to build a viable ship that has no shields but lots of armor.
Also any massive nerf off large weapons that doesn't effect small weapons will just bring back the old waffle cannon.
I like this idea. You could have space taxis for people who don't have jump-drives (Personally I think there should be some stealth based reason for not using them all the time) and the passengers could log out and do something else for a few minutes/hours during the journey.
It'd kill the remaining IDs but we could have a use for larger blocks to improve performance. Let the players only use standard 1m^3 blocks but automatically convert them to larger blocks as needed.
e.g. I place a 4m^3 area (64 blocks) and the game converts it into a single 4m^3 block. When that...
I feel that in order to simplify blueprints any variation of a hull block could be substituted for its basic form. If a ship needs 100 AH blocks and 50 AH wedges then I could just put in 150 AH blocks and it would convert 50 of them to wedges. It would save a lot of time and allow more freedom...
I just thought of something that makes me feel like an idiot for suggesting it but has to be said: Why not just make armor's damage reducing effects work constantly / even when the shield is still up?
I really like biological (Tyranid / Zerg) looking ships but they are hard to make look nice in a voxel game. I'm holding off until we get rails in the hopes that constant moving parts can add some life to them.
Rather than making a cargo hold required for existing materials why not add some new materials that require storage tanks, specifically liquids. We could have several liquids such as water and oil which could each have their own use from laser coolant to increase fire rate to oil which could be...
I think Notch planned this with nether portals in Minecraft. The problem comes in when you take a ship from a server with custom blocks to a server without custom blocks.
After seeing the other thread of the same name I got to thinking 'Why are the trading guild the only people I can buy stuff off?' There appears to be no other NPC faction willing to sell you things, not even the pirates. Instead of telling me about the limited resources of the dev team why don't...
