500 meters vertical ship power layout

They are the same as in they both use a docking system, but their similarities other than that are few. A docked power supply will use a rail docker to dock to a regular rail. A docked weapon system would usually be a turret, which would use a rail docker on the turret base to dock to a rail...

Spawned ships not loading anti-missile turret AI set to on?

I have just discovered that while I save a ship with it's PD turrets AI set to on, when I spawn in the same ship, the PD turret's AI is off. Is this a bug or a feature (for some bizarre reason)? Is this situation known, is it intended to be fixed? It is quite vexing as I just made my first ever...

500 meters vertical ship power layout

You want enough capacitors to be able to fire your beam. Likely that is equal to your one second power generation. I guestimated approximately 1700 modules per beam because my own reactors that produce 930K power need ~1550 modules. You should test precisely how many you need yourself however...

500 meters vertical ship power layout

Each power supply beam lasts for 2.5 seconds and then has a cooldown period of 2.5 seconds. The idea is to have two beams that alternate, so one is always firing. To have two beams, you will need two sets of power supply modules and a computer for each one. You test it by 'flying' the power...

500 meters vertical ship power layout

That is definitely at the upper limit of what a docked reactor should be producing. My own are 21x21x21, produce 930K and are likely somewhat more power efficient for their mass. Yours however will certainly do the trick and will give more power per 'lag factor', so I would say go with what...

Fuel, as a replacement for docked reactors.

I like this idea in principle. I would add simply a caution, that any such fuel/generator option needs to be as useful to a player building a big ship as are current docked reactors. If a player finds themselves constantly struggling to keep their ship fueled, just so they can keep their shields...

      More stock ships

Well, thanks for the shout out. :) What is needed is for an enterprising modder to assemble one or more 'pirate packs' and give easy to follow instructions as to how to install it. The pirate pack need not be ships they themselves built, but could be a selection from other creations. For this...

A Question to all the ship builders.

;) Actually a death'cube' is only the most efficient design if your criteria for efficiency is turn rate (solely due by the way to an aberration of game mechanics, it is 'highly' unrealistic). A death'cube' is inferior in most other regards to a sphere or a fat wedge. A sphere is the best shape...

500 meters vertical ship power layout

At that size, don't worry about it. Just lay a dozen or so 500 block lines and you will pass the soft power cap. Once past the soft power cap, stop laying lines (likely around 1.2M power). For really big ships, what you need are docked power reactors if you want lots of power. The native power...

A Question to all the ship builders.

I do not mean to pick on Lightning312, his post simply exemplifies the point I would make. Most ship builders would wholeheartedly agree with him and the other posters here. It is certainly the case that if building a good looking ship is your single overriding criteria, then absolutely ignore...

      Griefing with a torch?

Crew? I tried hiring a couple of crew a few months back and immediately regretted the bug filled decision. Are crew serviceable to the point now where they will actually align with a ship and at the very least stay where you put them? Having them wander about would be fine too, as long as they...

      Griefing with a torch?

Well, how about someone who enters the ship through for instance a turret hole, and cuts not through a blast door, but a piece of hull close to where the turret dock is. There would almost certainly be corridor access to the turret on the inside of the ship. The player has now free rein to...

How to make credits as a begginer?

I've created a thread for this 'torch' issue, so we don't hijack this thread.

      Griefing with a torch?

aceface in another thread mentioned the idea that one could board another person's ship and use the 'torch' to "break the core and get in it". This strikes me as an appalling thing, that this should be a mechanic. Is this not a rather simple mechanism to obviate faction modules and make ship...

How to make credits as a begginer?

Can the torch tool cut other blocks, other than the core? Could it be used to cut through to an anti-astronaut weapon to disable it? (Seriously sidetracking this thread, sorry.)

How to make credits as a begginer?

Wait a minute... Are you saying that factioning my ship is not enough to keep people from being able to steal it? That if I log off somewhere, someone who finds my ship can easily break in and make off with it? Are we now required to build anti-astronaut weapons to defend our ships core from...

Can we edit the 'icon' of a post in Community Content?

Thanks all. Clearing the cache didn't work for me. But if others are seeing a less pure black icon, that's all that really matters.

Can we edit the 'icon' of a post in Community Content?

Thank you Kupu, I should have been able to see that for myself. I can be increadibly obtuse sometimes. Speaking of obtuse, I have tried to delete the existing icon, tried uploading the new one, tried uploading while deleting, tried everything I can think of, and still the old icon displays. Is...

Can we edit the 'icon' of a post in Community Content?

I made my first ever post to community content yesterday and earned a badge! ;) http://starmadedock.net/content/marauder.3220/ Sadly, in my zeal to post, I had perhaps not spent enough time on making the ship 'prettier'. The original post was fully functional, wedged, etc., but had little by...

Marauder - A bit of greeble.

A bit of extra non-functional decor. Makes it a little easier on the eye, and to see.
