      Best Reactor Type.

This is completely incorrect. You do not need to run the length of a power line on the 'outside' of your ship to have maximum box dimensions. You 'do' want the ends of the X,Y&Z lines to reach the outside of your ship however, or at least reach the outer hull cladding. And that is exactly what...

When making ships, do you completely fill it's insides?

No, it is quite the opposite in fact. Because the surface area of your ship that contains the volume used by systems has a mass cost, having unused empty space inside your ship 'increases' the mass of your ship relative to the systems blocks it is using.

When making ships, do you completely fill it's insides?

It is a question of surface area to volume. Empty space inside your ship makes your ship less efficient in that regard. The surface area of your ship cost mass in terms of hull, possibly armor, and any decorative blocks one has added. It also makes you a bigger target and therefor easier to hit...

Turret AI for pirates off by default?

Pirates spawn with their AI off for any turrets they may have. This 'seriously' hampers their potential in games and greatly limits the choices of server admins who want to increase the challenge of their servers. Is this a bug? Are the developers aware of this? Or if there is a reason for...

When making ships, do you completely fill it's insides?

It depends on whether I have brick built my ship as a test first. If I have done so and tested all systems so I know it balances well, then the proper ship build using those block quantities tested in the brick build will indeed fill up all available space. Unless your ship is past the point of...

      Multi Targeting Turrets?

EricBlank I still don't remember if I tried it before, but I just tried it this morning, using basic rail dockers and setting the barrels to 'ships'-AI-missiles. Sadly, I must confirm that this does not work, the barrels will not fire.

      Multi Targeting Turrets?

I don't remember if I tried that. Something to do tomorrow perhaps.

      Best Reactor Type.

I'm sorry, but you are flat out wrong. You will ALWAYS get more power using the full dimensions of your ship rather than constraining your power to the dimensions of a smaller cube. ALWAYS. If you want to deliberately hamstring yourself with substandard power, go ahead. Other people reading this...

Building the most effective point defense

I just did some exhaustive testing of multi-barrel PD, reported upon in this thread. I am not posting the PD build for that, as I really do not know what the lag consequences would be for multi player servers if people used such a collision heavy system.

      Multi Targeting Turrets?

Well, I just conducted my own experiment with this. At this point I am not sure if this is a good idea or not. I have a turret that very unambiguously is vastly superior to a standard, single gun, PD turret. However, while in my own SP game I cannot detect any lag from using this design, I have...

      Multi Targeting Turrets?

It is likely easier and more effective to simply have more, smaller turrets. It is also much less likely to have issues that cause lag.

      More stock ships

I for one would like to understand how to include blueprints that would be used by pirates. More however, I would like to know how to 'exclude' blueprints from being used. I am building all sorts of things in my own SP universe, things like turrets, ships, reactors, all often in multiple stages...

      How Fast Do You Go?

I doubled the speed on my SP, and I play on servers that have increased speed by at least that much. Moreover if I am traveling significant distance I'll use my 'runabout', which also has maximum overdrive, so my speed doubles again. That despite 'also' having the 5% jump drive. I truly loathe...

500 meters vertical ship power layout

Yea, well, to quote myself: In any case, it seems to me that if you have each reactor idle for 2.5 seconds as you alternate between them, you are either wasting it's power generation for that amount of time, or you are storing it. If you are storing it, you will need almost as many batteries...

Lets Be Honest: Docked Power Generators

60EPS is what I get from my docked reactors. If these 'advanced reactors' gave the same, I would drop the reactors in a heartbeat and replace them with these blocks.

500 meters vertical ship power layout

That would be a rule only for docked power reactors. For a regular ship, if your ship is only 40 blocks long, your single dimension line will not be more than that. However that line can (and should) be branched not just the length of your ship, but the height and width of it as well. It would...

500 meters vertical ship power layout

The only thing power cubes are good for is for docked power reactors. Even there, you might consider long thin docked power reactors rather than cubes. Forget power cubes exist other than that. You will ALWAYS get more power by running the longest possible lines of power through the length...

Lets Be Honest: Docked Power Generators

I'm in the process of building an 800K block ship. That is FAR from the titans that many dream of. I built my ship with four docked power reactors. I am now rebuilding it from scratch, as among other reasons, four docked reactors were not enough to keep the ship from rapidly eating into battery...

Spawned ships not loading anti-missile turret AI set to on?

Yea, I checked that the turrets were active before saving, then checked again, and later checked once more. This is definitely a load problem, not a user error during save. I regret posting this thread to general discussion as opposed to support. I'd like to know if this is a known bug.
