      Prerelease v0.200.250

Attacking people who disagree with you by aggressively slinging profanity while putting words in their mouth - words that are nothing remotely near what was said or nor implied - is a petulant, childish attempt to silence dissenting opinions. Can you not respond to even one part of what was...

Brainstorm This: Crew Chambers (no crew)

Absolutely! This would be a lot of fun and enrich the game. Obviously second to converting the conventional chambers into crew compartments, but a brilliant idea; enough to create many hours of geekery in-game. Thanks for that!(y) Right, right! I realized this right after I first started...

Brainstorm This: Crew Chambers (no crew)

I've been tinkering a bit. I wonder if crew compartment bounding could be set up similarly to shipyards: (model at left shows our current, bloated divorce of components and interior space. cutaway model at right demonstrates my suggestion of marrying interior space with component functionality...

Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

I see. Yeah, the aesthetic would only carry for a few very industrial/post-modern styles. Dovetailing performance with aesthetics is definitely preferred if and when that can work. It's similar to the reason I'm now stuck on this difficult-to-convey epiphany that it could in fact be...

Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

This statement is so obvious on its face that I'm having trouble understanding what you intend to convey that you think I may not understand about it. Because this fact doesn't have any direct logical implication for the difficulty of achieving that optimization at various scales within a given...

Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

No pain no gain. Complete, perfect optimization isn't required for every ship or even any ship. Give autism a chance!

      The Stabilizer Fix

The extreme irony being that even if modified to effectively force interior space, stabilizers literally compete against interior space at the same time by being one more component you have to fill your ship with when you might rather be installing a crew compartment with that part your mass budget.

      The Stabilizer Fix

Give them the function of bounding interior spaces and say that imaginary ghost crew in that interior open (decorated?) space is what is keeping the reactor stable. By working on it; engineering style. It's so stupid that people are simultaneously pushing for "interior space" and at the same...

Make repulsors change ship frame of reference [boarding would work]

I like interior turrets too and you make a good point. It would suck to have an interior turret limited to firing within a compartment even when directly facing into a hallway with clear LOS to its target. But it would suck less than random crap flying through compartments all the time, IMO. My...

Make repulsors change ship frame of reference [boarding would work]

One more potential advantage to defining interior ship areas within bounding boxes or custom defined zones would be that it should become possible to exclude weapons passing freely and harmlessly through the interiors of the ship firing them to hit astonauts or even other entities.

Make repulsors change ship frame of reference [boarding would work]

This is an interesting idea. Some sort of boarding assist would be handy, but I do worry that if boarding became too easy it would quickly overpower other attack types. Repulsors are cool; I would almost rather see a second, repulsor-like tool to assist with forced docking and boarding. Some...

Additive Stabilizer Distance - The Simple Solution

I would love to see multiple layers of overlapping systems in the end. A network of reactor conduits connected to core systems (thrusters, weapons, shields, etc) it powers, Overlapped by / interwoven with a network of crew compartments adjacent to or incorporating elements of the core systems...

      Reactor Chamber effects

Things we already have in game would be good. Like circuits; since those give a fair indication of a sytem having electronic components. A few computers would also make sense inside a chamber that "does something" to your ship. But only if, like, you could acces the chamber and see it...

Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

You very well may be right. I have always been very keen on seeing conduits used as part of build complexity myself though, and am going to hold out a somewhat pessimistic hope that Schine eventually realizes the value in complexity and balance that they could imbue in building dynamics.

      Reactor Chamber effects

Not better the more. Just requiring some. Depending on the scale of the system they affect. EDIT: Also. "hollow" might be the wrong descriptor. Can you think of nothing that would be appropriate to functional interior spaces on a ship?

      Reactor Chamber effects

Stop confusing the Chambers with being "part of" the reactor. They aren't physically part of it, and they don't affect power generation - they consume reactor resources, like engines do (if differently, they still are pure consumers of reactor production). We don't have "Reactor Thrusters."...

Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

Optimize meta, minimize target profile, economize material usage, speed & simplify design. Same old reasons. Which isn't to say that I'd actually want to. I'd probably have to though in order to compete against others who did if I wanted to go back to MP. You yourself said in the Remove...

Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

A heat-based power capacity system would be awesome. It's nuanced and realistic. I'm probably missing something vital in the OP, but it sounds like I could still make a 1-axis line ship with the heat sink system though: [REACTOR]----------[HS]---[HS]---[HS]---[HS]---[HS]---[etc]---[etc]---[ad...

Additive Stabilizer Distance - The Simple Solution

This is exactly the issue. Multiple stabilizer groups are an easy solution, but only if a maximum efficient distance bubble is implemented as part of the system in addition to the current minimum distance so that successive stabilizer groups simply cannot simply be strung out along a single...

      One-dimentional shape exploit solution

It would certainly be a step in the right direction... I'm guessing it could still be gamed to optimize low-profile, linear ships. The main issue is that one way or another if you want to terminate linear building, you must involve more relationships than a single [maximum distance] figure...
