You didn't mention playing on a server. As far as I know the reason for the limit was to prevent adding large amounts of blocks in the middle of a battle or mining a whole planet section in a few seconds. I don't see why shipyards should have any limitation at all.

Placing a camera behind the rail docker helps with aiming, this even allows you to shoot in a different direction depending on camera block orientation. No, the core is placed in front of the virtual camera. Move the camera position to move the position where the core will be placed.

Make a one block wide hole in your ship, so the rail you want to dock to is visible from the outside. Then just shoot in with the docking beam. Finally, get back to the ship and undo the hole.

You don't need docking enhancers anymore, the ship just has to fit physically. Use Rail Basics on your station and Rail Dockers under your ships. You might need rail mass enhancers if you want to move ships on rails, though.

That's not how it works, the formula uses the sum of X, Y and Z dimensions. Thus a 7 block stick is equal to a 7 block 3D plus.
