But the shipyards are glitchier than all else right now---using a shipyard gives a chance that your ship might disintegrate into nothingness the next time the shipyard is used to load/build a ship.

Quite an impressive ship already. The inside looks like it might be a bit over-decorated (Too many computers/screens along that wall) but it's a very nice-looking shell.
The slabs give them all a bit of a flat look. I'd think it'd look better with some more angles and stuff, especially towards the front of the two thinner ones. The central sections on the ones with wings (Instead of engine pod-looking things) are two big and bulbous compared to the wings.
It IS a different class, but those three UNSC frigates were based off of the same hull---the Charon was built for more ground support ops, the Paris is a combat-oriented class, the Stalwart was the all-rounder of the three. They share many similarities, and if one class has the capability to...
Don't bother with the heatseekers---they friendly-fire a lot. Locked-on weapons keep their locks between computers, so switching between 4 missile computers saves you a lot of energy. Make sure it's fast and shielded.
What I'm thinking is not a physical cable, but rather something more akin to a tractor beam, except one that can be broken. Although, the functionality is really already provided with pull-beams....I think.
Don't remove jump drives---keep them for small-ship travel, and make them a tactical weapon. Used on fighters as a sort of blink drive. Used on anything larger (Minimum block cap) for the same FTL travel we have now.
Turreted grapple beams would be interesting....especially if it's more of a harpoon than anything else. Built to hold or even drag in enemy vessels. Perhaps even only working when shields are down/if it can pierce the shields (Shields at very low strength). Then you could make a dedicated...
One addition: Make it so that a master chest, with other chests slaved to it, can see into the other chests. You can then use this chest to access the others...without the need to set items to be pulled, which is a gigantic pain sometimes.
