Poke: Prodding the values with CheatEngine and then saving a blueprint suggests that values such as power, shields (so possibly armor) are calculated in real time rather than saved in the BP file.
Theoretically to minimize lag you would dock an object to your main ship that consist solely of a rail docker, core and some turret dockers which are placed outside the box-dims of the main ship. Then dock you're PD to those rail dockers. They would then be outside the bounding box of the...
Saw an entire faction slaughtered by its own leader as he went on some sort of crazy power trip and leveled the entire base with their brand new titan.
I know I just felt compelled to put that there because people who mine planets would be likely to view this thread and I wanted them to know. It reduces server lag by a lot and gives you a legit excuse to put a huge planet cracking laser on your miner. Whats not to love?
Edit 1: Apparently I was wrong about the cause of the power consumption increase (see Lancake's Post)
Edit 2: Upon testing a pre-update reactor I found it worked exactly how it used too suggesting that power consumption for power-supply beams hasn't changed at all.
I'm just gonna hijack this thread for a public service announcement:
Dear planet miners, blowing up the planets core before mining the segments significantly reduce the lag produced, please do so.
Oh yeh I encountered that one, the problem lies in a bug with flip flops, what you do is attach a chain of 4 not-gates to each flip-flop and use their output for the counting circuit while ignoring the flip-flops themselves:
So instead of this:
Use this:
Gonna have a try at a decent pseudo-random number generator, might get some other decent logic circuits out of it too.
Edit: Ok I worked out a way that doesn't use rotors but it involves an 8 bit logic counter and I'm not making one of those just for this.
It appears Jaaskinal has been running the thread for me (much appreciated) apparently I've not been getting update prompts to replies to this thread so I'm just going to set it as my default bookmark for the SM website, sorry for any inconvenience, a few basic device will be added to the main...
Ok I'd like to be able to test it but apparently my system doesn't like the latest release so now there's too much lag to reliably test anything power related.
Maybe its just me but with that avatar everything you write may as well be in all caps, though I do agree whole heatedly with you're point. Also what exactly changed? (haven't updated yet) cloak power consumption or power supply beams?
Edit:
Only if he does pop the scanner, most people aren't...
