Completely grief-proof way of faction homebase capturing.

After a couple of instances of having very large hostile ships in range of my homebase, making life quite difficult for my then battleminer to do it's work, I slapped together a pair of missile turrets for it. It was not a great difficulty to come up with a missile salvo that launched 40 decoy...

Completely grief-proof way of faction homebase capturing.

How about the current homebase system be maintained as is, except that they cannot hold factory modules or enhancers. People would still have a secure place to dock and log out, but also a reason to build defenses on something that could be attacked.

Do Some Systems Flat Out Not Have Certain Resources?

I gave up on asteroids for raw materials a little while back and digested the two planets in my home system; no rammet, sertise, parseen or sapsun. I claimed a nearby system with a half a dozen planets and ate them. I got a tiny bit of the four. Ultimately I stripped six systems of all their...

      Starmade pve

Your examples have a ship with 10M shields and 200K recharge. Such a ship would have very roughly 100K shield capacitors and just over 36K shield regenerators. The other ship you use to compare would have 5M shields and 2M recharge. Such a ship would require roughly 50K shield capacitor blocks...

      StarMade Development Direction

I find that my interest in games waxes and wanes. A great game can hold my attention for a couple of months easily. Starmade has held my attention for that length of time, twice already. Of late, my interest in Starmade has been waning, but that does not mean my interest is at an end. Fallout 4...

      Croudsourcing Systems Proportions

I do as Azereiah, I build the power system first. I'll usually add any turrets (other than PD) right after as their placement will define much of the rest of the ship. That done I will put down the weapon systems. Then I will build the shape of the ship and fill any interior space I am not...

ZimmTech: Pirate Fleet Competition [Awards Announced]

If it was within it's weapon range of an enemy but not at it's maximum range, it would fly backwards to keep it's weapons bearing on the enemy while it retreated to it's maximum range. It would fly in a zig zag (if the AI was being 'smart) so as to be evasive against possible enemy fire. You...

StarSide Blood and Steel: Season 2

Actually that is one of my biggest beefs with contemporary media skiffy (I will not dignify it by calling it science fiction or even Sci-Fi). Ships, vehicles, weapons, all of it, looks very obviously (at least to me) that it was put together by an artist, not an engineer, but worse by an artist...

StarSide Blood and Steel: Season 2

Sadly, the turning mechanics of the game greatly favor just such a cube. You can wedge the edges and corners a bit though, and vary the coloration to make it borg like. Until they fix that turning mechanic however, cubes are still the best thing for pure combat effectiveness. That said, there...

ZimmTech: Pirate Fleet Competition [Awards Announced]

The only advise I would give for a replay would be to start them at a decent range difference from one another (each fleet), like 3-4 K range. Give yourself a cloak ship to watch with, pre-positioned where you spawn the trade guild ships. but put yourself in the pirate faction. Also, you might...

ZimmTech: Pirate Fleet Competition [Awards Announced]

Retrofitting a power/weapon system into an existing ship is vastly more difficult than building a new ship from scratch. What would be much easier would be for you to perhaps strip the hull, shields, etc., off of my ships, leaving only the power structure and weapons, though remembering in some...

ZimmTech: Pirate Fleet Competition [Awards Announced]

Videos are always fun, but I fear it won't be terribly instructive for you other than as an object lesson. My ships were designed to to give a fight to ships ten times their size, and I've had several reports on my server of people fleeing from fights when they had that weight advantage. Your...

StarSide Blood and Steel: Season 2

Hmm... Last time I was too much the newb to be anything more than an avid observer. This time however, I know enough to at least give people a fight. I might very well join this.

      Rotating a Ship's Core

There is no way currently to rotate or otherwise move the core. What you might be able to do if your ship is not 'too' large, is to cut your entire ship and paste it in the other direction. This is not a trick that I would try myself as it is fraught with difficulties, but it might in theory be...

      Janky Turrets

Yes, I have this issue frequently. Turrets are still very buggy. I have turrets that are ball turrets able to rotate so as to face any direction, including straight down, without obstruction. (Of course they still cannot 'fire through' themselves or the ship they are mounted on.) Those ball...

      Question about development (Oct 2015)

Sanity is a relative term. There are none of us who are really, completely sane. Most of us try to be and come close to a semblance of it in our daily lives, but each of us harbors baseless beliefs and absurd delusions, and most of us are oblivious to just how irrational we truly are.

ZimmTech: Pirate Fleet Competition [Awards Announced]

Thank you jzimmerman4 for holding this competition. It is very unlikely I would have otherwise ever created this many small ships, as I usually focus my thinking on cruiser and up. The server I play on has gained a much greater diversity of pirates as a result. I would like to know if you...

      A small PD turret

Turrets share the shields of the main ship only as long as the main ship's shields are above 50%. Once the main ship's shields are below 50%, a hit to a turret is taken completely by the turret. At that point, having shields and armor on the turret can make a difference between having the turret...
