What I'm saying is the current setup has the capacity to do what you want, but I believe the way its coded keeps most planets towards the base size you mention. Basically it isn't truely random. Correct me if I'm wrong, as all I can reference is my own experience.

Not sure what you're seeing exactly but you're on the right track. I have that function set to true and it does work. Double check the config and make sure there are no extra spaces or anything. If you use a code editor like Notepad++ it will show you if it is set the way it needs to be...
What if the harpoon effect could only work against so much thrust. Therefore to harpoon a large ship that is trying to get away, you would need a larger harpoon effect.

I think he is referring to the game play style of ramming two giant ships together and unloading their payload instead of the lag issue. Baiscally it could force combat to be silly watching large ships hump each other until one blows a giant hole in another ship.

I like everything. I get the most enjoyment from not sticking with a theme and designing a ship loosely based off of SciFi ships I've seen. I also prefer to make my own color schemes.

I think Snk is right, its probably too far along to be making any changes to the plans that have been started for docking. Who knows, your suggestions may be what is coming out. We need to wait for the change before we can add more suggestion to the topic.

For the longest time I thought the description for the config was confusing and thought it would scale differently (accuracy would grow exponentially). When I found out it was literally the distance I felt silly.
