Malacodor The drones are inside a 7x7 wide tube. They are 5x7x5 in size with an area trigger block hovering 1 block above their 5x5x5 body and docked directly (no rack), which means they hover 0.5m above the ground. As soon as they are undocked, because the activation block is actually halfway...
I don't know if this is public knowledge yet. However, I found a way to have awesome rapidfire skoomdrone launch tubes :D
Beware the rapidfire skoomlauncher barrel concept prototype - fully automatized (skoomdrones will activate without failures on tube exit) (here shown with four, but can be...
The old stations were actually difficult to overcome in a 130 mass fighter if you were impatient and stopped circling before all 10 turrets were down. The new ones look so much better, but if that is the case then they need a turret buff.
This is one of these threads where I can just go "like like like" while scrolling. I love how you have plenty of ships from the smallest to the largest thinkable size. And they all look gorgeous.
Also I agree with refirendum , the use of missiles in this fleet is inspiring.
It is easy enough from a technical standpoint to update only the vertex positions that actually change in the VBO, so no performance worries.
This would be so incredibly helpful for industrial vessel design, adding life to hangars, moving parts on ships...
967 appears to have been fixed. However nukes on their very own already have a radius of 72. That is enough to shave many turrets off nearly any ship (on the non-impact side!)
Looking forward to and supporting this, and here's why:
- A fresh reset is really needed to set foot on a server after the BP update. Pre- BP update servers are unplayable except in one of the large factions. I want to import my blueprints paid for in blocks without competing with existing...
I personally consider this a rather pressing issue; would it not be more appropriate to bump up the priority in the bug tracker?
After all, this only got worse with the ridiculous radius nukes we have now. These can basically evaporate the contents of an entire carrier without doing remotely...
Loadout yes... that is a problem I am currently facing. For shieldless swarm drones, you need to fit MANY on a rack (a ship should field at minimum 32++ of them to benefit from the swarming effect long enough), and luxury like protruding wings and stuff are not an option. Worse yet, encasing it...
Back to smaller drones it is, indeed (I think) - as you need even more swarm behavior (higher count) if you have no shields. As for weapons, missiles still are and probably remain to be the superior option for drones, as cannons need large systems and effects to do block damage.
To go with an...
Hmm Gerion, good point. I haven't actually considered that yet. Before, we did opt for at least a few thousand shields on average with our medium sized drones. Everyone's drone stats had at least 2k shields (up to 10k). It may just be the time has come for completely shieldless drones with very...
Drones are economically viable when you have a mass production industry going to produce all of your frequently needed blocks, and you roughly use the same blocks on your ships. However, unlike the negigible credit costs before, it now requires crafting of alot of weapon computers per firepower...
Ohh that reminds me of a fun lecture some semesters back :)
Minecraft bases without at least a partial CPU (ALU) at the very minimum were unthinkable since then (even if practically useless). MC did have a more performant (even if messy, I really didn't like having to lay down the wires...
One simple reason for java, I guess: it is an academic language, e.g. learning it (usually a nice byproduct of university :D) and applying it to stuff doesn't cause you to loose 20 years of your estimated lifetime in health as C++ would.
Java produces lengthy but very readable code, and for a...
There is hope!
1. Faction your mothership
2. Leave the area/server (ship unloads) - in MP everyone in the close proximity would have to leave
3. Get back online, the faction assignment has spread one level further down the docking chain! (turrets on mothership will all be factioned)
That being...
Oh yes, the fabled chaff drones :D you can have extreme amounts of them due to their small size (with overlapping docking areas). 64- racks work well to confuse medium sized ships and their turret arrays.
