Build Mode in survival makes no sense

The Cat was aware of what people did "these days" many days ago, and fixed it. :) I once saw a server who limited advanced building to 3x3x3. I have not heard of it anymore since then. In fact, many servers use even larger boxes than 10x10x10, and personal creative local universes often use...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Snk keptick From the Encyclopaedia of Space, Colonial Fleet Edition, Volume 57, Part IV, page 852: "A drone is a ship-entity with at minimum a faction module and an active Bobby AI module set to "Ship" and without a jump drive or interior designed to be deployed in large quantities. Drones may...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

:D very true. I am too much of a fan of 100% beam supported missiles after the change. The triple speed is just... godlike. However, what concerns me is their reload time; a drone swarm is only more effective than turrets if most drones get to fire their stuff more than once - which is more...

      pirate stations need better turrets

Slightly offtopic: @ Zero_Sen makes sense. Now I know why the Isanths are basically completely hollow. Teaches new players a couple of things: - The fact that ships can be built accessible, and that they can have an actual interior. - How the power generator system works, and what other blocks...

Consume paint from inventory instead of crafting; make hull color an option in advanced buildmode

Tajin I kinda like this. Combined with more color capsule yield, this would make even the most complex to craft hull colors feasible by just having all required colors in the inventory at once. Although I still believe color should be "free", your suggestion combined with the advanced build mode...

Consume paint from inventory instead of crafting; make hull color an option in advanced buildmode

Let me preface this by stating that this suggestion is, admittedly, a purely personal opinion and a radical one at that. Many might disagree here and I know it; even if there was hypothetical support for this, I am only suggesting making it a config option, not forcing this onto any server...

      Anyone playing "legit" ?

100% agree. For me, building a ship is an engineering and design process. During that process I want all resources I need as to not hinder the creative process. The most important thing though: I like to spend a month or more on a ship once, and then just buy it everytime afterwards (be it with...

      Anyone playing "legit" ?

Well now post-update - all ships are made 100% from crafted resources ;) I personally think that decorative blocks with no actual function are punished too hard via their crafting trees. Btw sven, yay for another member of the image-statsheets-for-ships club - the coolest club :D Lidren : That...

Malacodor yes that was no typo, these things exist - push pulse computer/module (item ids: 344 and 345). Their name however is misleading; they do not really push, but actually work as a "disable thrust temporarily" stun pulse. Also I'd go as far and say nukes are completely worthless againt...

      Anyone playing "legit" ?

There is one major problem with the current legit play enforced by the blueprint update, unless you are in your admin command SP universe or in a large faction. The update made aquiring even small decent looking functional stuff far more time consuming. This is like trying to play skyrim legit...

Nukes? Nukes travel at half the speed of ships. With a decent amount of point defense and a half awake pilot these stand no chance hitting anything that hasn't been shot core-ready already. All other missiles have a radius of 22 maximum - easy enough to completely shield the drones from them on...

      Rail system :P

When we get rails, Ill be off to make a giant black mesa like seekrit research facility space station with epic 5 minute introductory train ride and lots of moving cargo bots to be seen alongside the path. Oh yes.

The tube mechanism does not work with rack detaching, it is specifically made to profit from timed single drone releases using relatively spherical/cuboid drones. The smaller the drones, the better for the tube technique - which is why it is so viable for skoomdrones. I plan to have around 8...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Yes you can in fact add depth - WITHOUT adding more push beams :D It does get slightly messy if you turn fast, but the charon is not going to turn much anyways, so you can just as well use 88-racks or something crazy like that. Oh, if only my cruiser could have more space for drones. Well I'll...

Did disintegrators receive an update sometime? Last time I checked (few months back), they were unusable for any purpose, with no scaling for group size and immense lag on impact :( Any missile drone will easily do more damage cheaper and multiple times.

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Welcome to the drone club! :) As keptick said, skoomdrone mass launches are more of a cruiser/battleship thing, but what will work excellently for you is to have a small amount of skoomdrones combined with a large amount of damage drones. You might even consider adding a little more length to...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Indeed it is :D deployed in masses, an entire fleet can be cursed with the spell of systems failure. That also solves the main weakness of skoomdrones: dying before they can be effective. If there is just enough of them, and since turrets will all fire at the first two or three drones launching...

ltmauve In the above case, it works flawlessly with two beam outputs - since the docked drones hover 0.5m above the ground, I have one beam hit 0.5m below the core and one 0.5m above. The drones have exactly the same mass distribution on any side. Note that a moving ship will have the...

      NuclearFun's Ships

Jesus christ, the Fenrir is "unfinished"? Even the interior is complete (only saw one empty deck which makes sense to have on any larger ship), fully working gravlifts, all systems operational, no errors... I'd say release it and earn the praise.
