      Thoughts on Crafting Changes

Any thoughts or interesting observations on the crafting changes we've been seeing? I'm definitely enjoying the adjustable factories. It makes a big difference in building factories. Are manufacturing materials like capsules and raw ore taking up less space? I don't remember what they were...

What are the most valuable 3 things you miss in StarMade?

I will second/confirm this. Any time you get two people together working on & playtesting ships with real commitment, they begin discovering crazy shit. I love the real-tech aspect of this - there are some very good unique techs I've encountered - but the downside is that many top players seem...

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

Just a one-time damage on first entering the atmosphere through the wormhole, not an area of permanent re-entry fire. Just enough to demand aero-space vehicles employ a shield or take the hit, and add a touch of "atmosphere" to gameplay.

      CNC'd Metal Starmade Logo

If Schine ever takes up a brick and mortar, we know will be getting a request to provide Schema's door plaque!

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

Should entities passing through the wormhole heading towards the planet be subject to a wave of re-entry damage (like sunburn)? This would not only be realistic, but could help discourage abuse of drones not properly designed as re-entry vehicles with shields to protect them from the heat.

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

More brainstorm fodder, here: Would the sector used to instance planets in this suggestion benefit from actually being a cube of 9 or even 25 sectors, with the planet itself in the middle, rather than merely 1 sector? Reasons: for servers sticking to smaller sector dimensions (and probably...

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

I remember. Why they would leave such good content out if it was working properly though? That's my thought. I'm guessing that Auburn left us with some gorgeous planets... that lag SM to death and are basically unusable. Notice how limited the teaser is? The alternative is too...

      Remove Stabilizers

I am fine with reactors, I just strongly dislike the stabilizer distance settings and now the new beams and blocks to make that block work. Which, sadly, is probably an indicator regarding Schine's level of attachment to stabilizers - notice how quickly new blocks and dynamics are being...

      A quick poll Power 2v1?

Agreed. My settings would not be the same, but more modularity in configuration could only be positive.

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

Honestly, I'd hope so too. Perhaps later a method of destroying planets could be introduced, but it should be prohibitively expensive and difficult. And I agree about missiles. Standard missiles wouldn't pass through a real atmosphere anyway. But a re-entry vehicle could... which would allow...

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

Would missle weapons pass through the transition somehow for orbital bombardments, or would warhead-based ordnance finally become a necessity for something?? Would destroying entire planets still be possible, or would that be done with?

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

We can certainly hope. We got those cool light bars and computer consoles too, don't forget.

Brainstorm This: Crew Chambers (no crew)

This is exactly what I was looking for - some perspective - because when this idea hit me it seemed almost too perfect. Very good analysis, to my eye - I love all the points you went over in this. Docked chambers are definitely going to require a lot of finesse to pull off, but so has docking in...

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

Exactly. The current game-killing lag is exactly what drove the creation of load screens to begin with. If the game must load chunks, it must load chunks. The only decision is what experience you can offer your players while the inevitable takes place.

A Radicaly New Approach for Viable Planets:

This is what contradicts every discussion about the notion of keeping the universe - lol - "seamless." Facts. SM universe is full of goddamn seams! Every few seconds a sector transition jerks past. I think we have all tried dog-fighting across small sectors... it is not remotely "seamless."...

Brainstorm This: Crew Chambers (no crew)

It would probably be better for Schine to look at this possibility now, rather than later. Lancake - is this solution something schema might possibly be interested in?

Brainstorm This: Crew Chambers (no crew)

This is a mechanic worth considering. My question is "what is being damaged?" If a beam punches through a large logistics compartment and passes through mostly empty space only destroying 5-10 blocks total, how much damage does it do and why? Is the stabilizer beam going to read the empty air it...

      P2 fighter/bomber scale

Yes. The concern is seeing a capital ship dying with shields still up and no substantial block damage. I am fine with the idea of shield damage stressing the reactor. I am fine with the idea of some shots penetrating shields without a mechanic of shields ever completely going down. Anything...

      P2 fighter/bomber scale

Star Wars, Galactica, Battletech, and a few anime/manga come to mind just off hand. Real life as well - air superiority is of key importance to be able to safely deliver large ordinance, and small groups of fighters properly outfitted can pose a threat over time to capital ships if not dealt...
