      No, because you'd need six outputs to cover all possible directions, and you could either have one hit kills with overdrive and pulse/beam or something, but that has a long enough down time that you could figure out the pattern and get in/out safely and disarm it, or it would have to be pulse...

      Wouldn't be big enough to be an insta kill, or wouldn't fit in the space. Adding complexity adds faults.

      There really is an issue of what all is important. Most weapons are better controlled by pilots in a ship or AI than logic. A lot of rail logic is difficult to justify outside of academics because simpler systems could do the job. Something I've been looking into a bit, but am having difficulty...

      The output will always have at least one block behind it. It is impossible given the games mechanics to do otherwise.

      If it's insta kill it has a reload or it can't cover the whole weapon effectively.

      The game of countering torches with pulses is a tricky one. You can obviously buy time, but unless you make your trap complex (in which other failure points arise) it is incredibly easy to get around them. It just takes time.

      I think it takes more than 24 man hours in some places, but it's still a much more reasonable investment than conventional warfare.

      I agree except for that last part. It wouldn't be impossible, it'd just take a spy, which I even disagree with.

      I pretty much had to agree with every comment in this thread. Ships shouldn't need to have all of their blocks destroyed to die, but the HP bar should show when you're going to die instead of some random number.

      In addition to that pressing tab+g will clear your hud and will make it easier to tell whats on the screen and what's not for an f6 screenshot.

      Box dimensions of the ship detect when a collision check is required, docked entities withing the box dimensions of a ship cause collision checks. Basically I just want to put rail dockers at the edge of box dimensions so that they don't cause collision checks.

      To get anything to undock you simply have to send a high pulse from an activator (a few other logic blocks work as well, but activators are reliable) that's not adjacent to a rail.

      I think some lag and vulnerbilities could be avoided with externally docked shields outside of the ships box dims to protect docked reactors also outside of the box dims. It'd look bad, but it would be effective.
