      Actually, shouldn't it be a gate setting? If you're trying to make a public gate, having it invisible defeats the purpose.

      I'm not sure how efficient having the shape/rotation bits sharing with the ID bits would be. I do know that some blocks (like the light-rods and plants) will not be able to have full orientations anyway, so there will have to be a bit of lookup for collision calculation anyway.

      Very nice. Three points: Engines could use a bit more depth As atraUnam said, the detail is a bit cluttered. Also it has an indisticnt overall shape. Try putting long lines on it to break up the blobbiness.

      Actually, you'd want to have one box pull from every previous box in the chain. If box n (last one in the chain) gets filled up, and then box n-1 gets filled up, then anything in box n won't get filled.

      The point of this suggestion is that all the shapes would be condensed into a single block for each type. You wouldn't have seperate IDs for each shape anymore.

      For things that only require 1 button, it's good and will make putting things on fewer hotbars easier. The number "bar" to switch between different items on the same bar, the numpad to switch between different hotbars, and the ability to bind things or RMB/LMB only.

      Except if one hotbar is fixed fire and the other is focused, that limits flexibility (like if I have a couple weapons I always use focused, like a stop beam and an ion beam, I can put those into the RMB and LMB of the same slot and switch between them easily.

      The problem is it's still rather difficult to set up in the first place, as you have to maunally add every type of block, and then set them to 99999. There's a thread over here about it in the suggestions forum.

In order to rearrange the bits in the stored data we would have to import the entire database, and your solution doesn't justify that.       Actually, only 4 of those bits are dedicated to orientation. For corners, the 5th bit is actually the activation bit.

      If you were to cut this block out of a cube, there would be two faces that are made from the original cube's faces. (Two triangles.) You can't tell them apart. Or, to put it another way, there are two orientations of a corner block that can be cut to get the same reverse corner.
