If this is true that would be amazing. I love the idea of being able to build a specialist ship that can escape by flying where other ships can't go.
Some sort of mechanic where it takes increasingly large amounts of energy to sustain a heat shield near a star would be very nice.
Over the past months I've read a few threads about people who have been robbed and lost everything when they have a shop on a home base. Is there a bug that makes these inherently unsafe, or did they have them set up wrong?
Is it safe to place a shop on a home base?
What is best practice for...
Perhaps not with the logic available at this time, but I'm thinking ahead to what happens when one starts letting players write their own scripts in-game. Next it's "can we have scripts access to do this or that" and then it's waves of micro drones with ridiculously evasive scripted AIs swarming...
What I mean is, using the display block to replace logic blocks is a change to the game that will split the player community between those who like to code and those who have no interest in coding and only want to place blocks.
The ships using these 'code boxes' will potentially be superior to...
With the recent inclusion of sensors, we could pretty much do this now with the inclusion of a sound file block.
For example, a block that would play a klaxon sound could be triggered by a sensor reading that shields were down to 10%. The possibilities are endless...
I'd just like to add to the call to be able to make Overdrive computers slaves of Jump-drives.
An earlier thread called for all kinds of slave effects, but at a minimum the ability to slave overdrive computers would be really good IMO. For example, a 100% ratio of slaved overdrives to jump...
Making it take a long time to travel from one side of a galaxy to the other helps create the impression of the vastness of space, and allows people to deliberately set-up in harder to reach locations.
On the server we play on clock-jumper-ships are liable to be confiscated by admin for creating...

I can't tell if you're joking or if that's a real thing.
For anyone reading this thread later with this issue, it seemed to be resolved with a server restart. The problem hasn't reoccurred at the time of writing.
When I play Starmade I have the game sound off, and am usually on Teamspeak with friends, however I also usually have some background music running from Youtube when I'm building.
Something to inspire me, usually epic/instrumental/choral, eg:
Our faction has also been experiencing this problem on the server we play on. It's not our server, so I don't have access to the logs.
I built this test to try and replicate the problem other faction members have been having:
Everything worked as would be expected, the test 'door' moved...
Which is another good point, as that also was an issue where I've seen Lua implemented before. The miniaturisation possible in a Lua controlled ship can make them infuriating for what you might call "vanilla" players.
Core+power+cannon+luabox x100 and then watch the swarm dismantle a carefully...
If I may, A word of warning with regard to Lua Scripting.
A certain other voxel based building game cheesed off some of its user-base when it added Lua. While it is amazing the things that Lua can do, it should be implemented in a way that doesn't put players who don't use it at a disadvantage...
