      Reavers!

Given the above, and given that the NPC faction system isn't finished, can we get a special faction that doesn't claim territory, but just inhabits the void and preys on anyone venturing there? Of course, I'm thinking of Firefly's Reavers: Basically make the void off-limits to all but the...

      Herbal Meds

I don't know if this has been suggested before, but didn't find anything after a quick search, so I'd just like to put in the suggestions forum one concrete idea for implementing this part of the End Goals document. Allow the crafting of a personal inventory item "Med Pack" using a certain...

No dead bodies in space please.

Of course, if NPCs don't despawn there's the posibility to make damaged space hulks to be explored, filled with dead astronauts slumped at their posts. Oh, look at this leathery egg shaped object...

No dead bodies in space please.

Classic Simpsons. Do you have kids? I couldn't see my children playing a game like From the Depths, but in its current form, sure, I could see them playing StarMade. They already play Minecraft. How complicated they make the new power system to build might change how accessible it is to younger...

No dead bodies in space please.

In the end it might be a commercial decision. IIRC That's the reason World of Tanks has no crew when War Thunder does. It means WoT got an age rating of 7 while WT gets 12, meaning WoT could target their advertising at a wider audience. So, I guess if people dying agonising deaths in the vacuum...

      Left-Field Block-Based changes

I do like making physical sliding, logic-controlled doors/airlocks in StarMade and have a few on my home base, but fear of lag stops me placing them on ships. Having a way to build sliding doors without a new entity would be cool, but I'm not sure that would need them to be non-physical. I...

      Left-Field Block-Based changes

A shield control computer has the potential to be quite cool. We could do away with shield regeneration blocks and have just one type of shield block. The computer could then be set to customise all the shields it is master of with some sliders, e.g: - Capacity - Regeneration - Heat Resistance...

Any advice on how to display starmade on 2nd monitor of a multimonitor setup?

I think you need to specify your operating system first to get an answer for that. I have Starmade on my second screen and mirrored on my TV, but I'm using Ubuntu with Xfce. I couldn't help you with MS Windows.

Command Chairs, or alternatives in the meantime, and non physical cameras.

So, it sounds like this is the set-up most people are using now for small role-play ships then: This actually works great for small ships as a pseudo-command chair. But, I still voted "Chairs now!" because I feel impatient right now. :) From an RP point of view, it bugs me that the pilot...

      Easier turret placing

The convenience of that sort of system sounds very much like the FtD prefabs menu. Except the multiple rail turret axis thing, that would be going one step further (and why not?). The plural form of axis is axes.

If you use photobucket for your sigs etc.

Ads displayed on their website don't earn them money when the images are being displayed on other websites. Bandwidth costs money.

I've not seen any evidence to support that assertion, but I do hope you're right.

      A starmade universe storyline

I think that stories bring life to a game and are important, but this is something that server admins, faction leaders and players in the StarMade community should make rather than anything Shine needs to focus on.

Controlling Captial Ships - Utilizing the third-person view for "better" captial ship combat

+ This is basically how turrets worked in From the Depths (not played it in ages, so no idea if anything has changed). You could create a turret group and assign as many turrets as you wanted. Then set up the AI for that group to target based on enemy range, mass, speed weapons etc. Oh, and...

      Stealing Npc Ships

I can't deny that building for minimum lag and building for best PvP performance might sometimes be mutually exclusive. Unless you like ships that look like shoe boxes.

You come across a bit defensive Gasboy, I'm not bashing the game, I'm just posting facts. The number of people playing multi-player has gone down dramatically. The number who play any game mode and launch using Steam has gone down dramatically. I did take a look at incompatible servers, and at...

      Stealing Npc Ships

And even more so the number of cores where the entity collision boxes overlap. That's why I've started trying to place turrets on the very edge of ship hulls, and using transporter pads instead of physical lifts with rails. Less entities, less overlap, less lag.

Controlling Captial Ships - Utilizing the third-person view for "better" captial ship combat

You want that glorious moment where two capital ships pass each other broadside with little fighters flying in between eh? Sounds like you're after something like the turrets in World of Warships.

While it may be technically correct to point out that only includes Steam, a quick tally of the players online in the game server list just now showed 98 players online. So it does appear to be indicative of the general number online.

So, I checked this out. And yeah, there is a site that tracks this stuff: StarMade · AppID: 244770 Over the last couple of years Starmade has gone from ~940 max concurrent players online to ~120 max.
