      Turret Size vs Ship Size

Thalanor's turrets and the EVE online turrets have inspired a lot of my designs as well. The turret setup posted above works well for missile launchers, and ams turrets (without the inset into the hull.) Its also a good option for large or capital ship guns, being inset, but for small turrets on...

Read by Schine Design mode for the upcoming shipyard update

I'm assuming that build blocks/build mode will just have to work on stations, still. Actually, I meant for AI crewmen or robots to do the repairs, requiring the ship to go through the reboot process and maybe an additional repair period for the armor. The process is still automatic, besides...

      Inset Collision Boundary. (Block lube!)

Ideally you wouldn't, but accidents happen, and admins don't always offer accident forgiveness. :P Exactly. Exactly exact.

      > build mode only works outside the shipyards on single blocks, can still edit linkages, but goes through the design mode process and only works when stationary, not under fire, and requires a full system reboot for changes to be implemented on the ship itself. A storage block/the ship needs to...

Recognized Improve Sector Coordinate display on HUD

We can use both simultaneously. A player in-game is already able to see the core, rim, and rotation of a galaxy, talking to each other in those terms is possible. However, although we can't use it in real life, in Starmade everything exists on a static 3d grid that does have labelled axes. Using...

      Turret Size vs Ship Size

The large quad ball turret you posted also seems reasonable. A sphere can contain a lot of volume. The base of course will have to occupy a portion of that because it needs mass enhancers as well. I've been experimenting with a few ball-and-socket designs myself.

Large Ship Constructed with many smaller ships

Well, if each segment of a ship produces 1mil e/sec, and turrets drew from the youngest child entities (with the most parents leading back to the mothership), then those turrets furthest out have the most power to draw on. If they require 2mil e/sec, they can have it. Similar to Kilozulu's idea...

Read by Schine Design mode for the upcoming shipyard update

Being able to use build mode when in the field is weird, but until this design mode and shipyards are fully implemented, I am definitely not going to be happy placing every single block as an astronaut. Astronauts need more ways to get around quickly, anyway, than spawning a core. And maybe AI...

      Inset Collision Boundary. (Block lube!)

What the OP wants, not in their suggested solution but in what would actually solve their problem, is smoother collision mechanics. We need them for ships so our internal power reactors don't accidentally get undocked due to some bug and crash the server from the collision calculations (EE had a...

      Pluto Time

Actual barren planets, moons, and dwarf planets/planetoids will hopefully be a thing. Got to come up with a way to minimize the lag from planets, too.

I had been thinking of something effectively identical, although I didn't want to use blocks. Spartan also has a good point about default classes. And then there was a discussion about how to use faction points for similar bonuses a while back... Perhaps all of this can be combined into a...

      Interdiction - No escape!

Interdiction by boarding sounds awesome as well, perhaps as the only 100% guarantee to preventing a ship from escaping. And being incredibly dangerous. You need to stay on the ship, keep the boarding block charged unless you can find an uncovered capacitor/reactor. And, of course, your pals...

Using trading guild stations? Would also be a good excuse for another station design contest; build a warpgate station for generation in the game, with a specific gate ring size that would work for smaller craft new guys would be using, like a radius of 21 using the build helper tool, so all...

      Interdiction - No escape!

To be honest I'm not inclined to prevent jump-drive PvP. I wouldn't mind at all. I know how it feels to be on the losing side in every possible meaning of the word, because I'm there 99% of the time, but PvP is a thing in base game terms. This doesn't stop servers from banning it, though...

      Interdiction - No escape!

I'm cool with an interdiction system, even one that affects larger ships. We do need a handle on hit+run tactics, such that it is possible to stop the aggressor, although I wouldn't go so far as to ban them. We've had a discussion regarding this in the past, even, and I would still advocate a...

      Read by Schine Better Respawning

If you can spawn at any faction station for free, you can fling yourself to the far side of the universe instantly, for free, so long as you've built a station there. But that's still an exploit. You can build a station right next to an expensive shop and spawn there, and one at a cheap shop...

How many jump drives do you normally put on your ships.

I always like to have a primary drive for normal use and a backup for emergencies. Special ships like jump freighters meant to jump multiple times in quick succession get more, regardless of the recharge time (good if you're going to spend time in one spot anyway, and your destination is only a...

      Read by Schine Better Respawning

Being able to choose from many locations you've set in the past, yet are within the same galaxy as where you died, sounds like the best of both worlds. A server-wide protected spawn is still a known spawn, and if you can't use a jump drive to escape because you're completely broke, your enemies...

      Planetary Shields

Only reason I suggest using a station is that a direct extension of a planet plate means extension of gravity of he planet. Using a docked ship has the risk of the ship becoming undocked, and while hovering over part of that ship won't put you into the gravity well (you have to be over a block...

      Planetary Shields

Home base protection seems to extend to the entire planet anyway. Building a station marked as home base around an already shielded planet is theoretically possible, although when I tried it my client crashed. I don't have a beefy ass computer though. maybe someone who does, or plays on a server...
